As soon as I possibly can. If I had my way, I'd fly somewhere there's a huge congregation of fans and nerd it up at the midnight showing.

As it stands, I'll probably end up going alone three days after it opens.

I plan to rent ST:XI whenever it arrives on Apple TV. The viewing itself will probably be a deeply unpleasant experience, but how else can I tear the film apart on TrekBBS.com with a clean conscience?

TGT

Opening day or opening weekend, matinee. I'd spring for full price if I planned to go with people, but as I'll likely be alone I might as well pay less and avoid the crowds.

Advance sale tickets for a 7-ish first-night showing. Wife and kids will be in tow. If I really like it, I'll catch a matinee by myself a couple of days later (kids in school another month + wife at work + semester over and done teaching = perfect world).

Probably during the day on the Monday after opening. I have Mondays off.

re: "if at all?" :guffaw:Please. Anyone who posts here will watch it at some point, if only covertly and to satisfy their curiosity.

I get this picture of a bunch of guys in the front row in trenchcoats and hats.

In another thread I postulated angry fat guys wearing black armbands mourning the impending death of Star Trek, waiting in the opening night line, scowling with their arms crossed, eager to get back here and post myriad variations on "I told you so!"

I'm going to try for opening night, but it'll probably be sometime within the first week.

Mods, think we can sticky this one?
I would prefer not to. There are already too many stickies in here.

Picketing in front of the theater. "GR Yes! JJ No!" "Hey, hey. Ho, ho. Quinto's Spock must go." "Trek's dead, Jim!" "No Shatner, no peace!"

I would have said sometime in the first week but that was not a choice so I picked sometime in the first month-Full Price.

It's remarkable how consistently the numbers come up in poll after poll, regardless of the exact questions asked: around eighty percent supportive, ten percent skeptical but open, ten percent against.

And that's among a self-selected group of fanatics (us).

The trailer's done its job well - Abrams and Paramount have nothing to worry about from the Trek fan base. Their job is to get other folks to see the movie.
