What's your favourite episode of all time?

I don't think we've done one of these in ages so here you go.

What's your favourite episode of all time?

Mine's "The Constant," and I expect a lot of answers like that. So, if you answer "The Constant" throw in your second favourite, just to keep it interesting.

I've got "All The Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues" and "Two For The Road."

I'll take the Constant. Penny and Desmond are two of my favorite characters, and I really enjoyed the way their story was shown in that episode.

The brass ring remains "Live Together Die Alone". It was a perfect storm. The return of Desmond, who I loved so much in his initial trilogy of appearances. The entire back story of Desmond. The incredibly touching tragic love story of Des and Penny gets introduced (it's by far the most effective romance in the series). The introduction of Charles Widmore. The entire history and story of the Swan Station. The final explanation on whether pushing the button worked or not. A final confrontation between Locke and Eko. A big jungle adventure. The Swan goes boom and our characters get captured and betrayed by Michael. Isn't this also where we learn Ben is the leader of the Others? And final OMG cliffhanger of the Island being discovered... by Penny! Oh oh! And the Four Toed Statue's only appearance!

Yeah, I had to narrow it down. Off the top of my head I could list like 10 stand out episodes. The ones you guys posted are awesome.

Maybe "The Brig" or "The Man From Tallahassee" too.

The Constant.

Besides that, it's really hard to remember, I have a bad memory for television shows for some reason. I do remember really enjoying the Claire episodes.

I'm gonna join the bandwagon and say "The Constant."

"The 23rd Psalm" is probably my second favorite. I love Mr. Eko so much I want to kiss him.

"Live Together Die Alone" is my 3rd.

All of those are excellent but my first instinct was to say "Pilot"... :D

...I still think it's the best pilot I've ever seen for ANY series.

Live Together, Die Alone is the finest the series has ever been. There was just so much going on it was overwhelming in a good way.

Honorable mentions:
The Constant
Flashes Before Your Eyes
Walkabout

Pilot. Best. Series. Premiere. Ever!

And all the other great episodes already mentioned.

I love all the Sawyer episodes personally...he needs a new one!

"S.O.S"
"Walkabout"
"Deus Ex Machina"
"Live Together, Die Alone"
"The Constant"
"Meet Kevin Johnson"
"Flashes Before Your Eyes"
"The Man Behind the Curtain"

I just cannot pick one with a show like this. I can say I love Des and Locke's backstories the most.

I feel kind of the same way. I can't pick one.

But there are stand out episodes. What do you think? If you had to pick one or three what would it be?

"The Constant" has to be my #1 favorite. Before that one aired, "Flashes Before Your Eyes" was at the top...Desmond is such a terrific character. "Walkabout" sold me on the series, and for an honorable mention I have to add "Deus Ex Machina": "So WHYYYY...did you DO THIS...to MEEEE?!?!?!?". I also love all 4 season finales so far, and I'm so glad they always do the double length shows to cover all the ground they have to cover.

My #2 after "Live Together" would have to be "Man Behind the Curtain". Not only did we finally see life under Dharma directly, not only did we finally learn the secrets of Ben, not only did we learn Alpert is unaging, we also got the introduction of Jacob which was just totally mind-bending, and also that shocking cliffhanger of Ben killing Locke (that's what I thought at the time!).

I'm thinking about it and to me it is like picking out favorite chapters from a great novel. Very hard. I guess I would say the Constant but the Constant is only as great as it is because of what came before.

And then there is the first episode of season 2 where we start out by seeing what is in the hatch...I don't remember if the entire episode is that great but just the way that started, and what was in there, it blew my mind. That was single biggest "WTF is this" moment for me because I could just not get my head around that 70's stuff and the whole hatch. I love the Dharma stuff.

Think about what we found in the hatch - a guy who had to press the button every 108 minutes or something would happen, and even he didn't know what it was. Whatever you imagined was in the hatch, I guarantee NO ON ON EARTH imagined that before hand - now that is why Lost is great.

I wonder when we find the reason for all this in the end, will we feel this way? I doubt it. Whatever they come up with to explain the island overall, I be someone will figure it out first near the end of the show.

Maybe even the episode where we learn about the purge, just because I love the Dharma stuff.

I can't do it!

The Pilot. I don't know that I've seen any show, including any of my other favorites, open that strong. It was compelling and had such a drawing power that ten minutes in I knew I was on board for the season.

My original Hatch theory was secret underground military base still in use, which pretty much turned out to be true. I was actually shocked when they blew it open at the end of S1 and it was just a hollow shaft, but I was confident the base would just be down past where the camera went... which also turned out to be true! That's why "Orientation" at the time was my favorite episode because it finally confirmed my military conspiracy theory, kinda.
