What's wrong with my computer?

My colors suddenly became very weird and I'm not sure why.

I must be missing something or just so ready for bed because it looks fine to me.

I just realized it's possible that others can't see it. Does it look normal for others? It could be the screen itself and not something that I could simply hit printscreen.

Looks fine to me (except for the aforementioned problems). So if your screen-grab is good it could just be a bad monitor cable. God, I hate to be just like patronizing tech support, but try jiggling the connection on both ends (GENTLY!)

ETA: Back in the day we had the Red "gun" on an CRT RGB monitor go out intermittently and then permanently. Everything looked way too blue. Is that the kind of thing you're talking about?

Does this make it a bit clearer? If it helps, things that should be blue are bright pink.

It's a laptop.

If you have a small philips screwdriver I'd try taking it apart and reseating the video connector between the screen and the motherboard. Prior to that, though, wiggle and twist as best you can and see if something good happens. If something bad happens, the wiggling and twisting was a bad idea.

A flat screen doesn't have a red gun, a blue gun, and a green gun, just signal wires in a wide thin ribbon cable.

If that doesn't work check the back for external monitor options. Hopefully you have an old tube monitor laying around somewhere. That will keep you from going crazy for a couple of days.

Last week I tore my Dell Inspiron down to the motherboard six times to fix a power problem.

^It's the connection between the lcd and the adapter. One of the most common failure points on laptops due to the frequent opening and closing of the case "flexing" the ribbon. You can try the "reseat" fix listed above, if that doesn't work, your SOL. Time to upgrade.

Be sure to jiggle both ends of the connection on your optical nerve, as well, just to rule out an ocular error.

I just called HP. Apparently my warranty has expired and they say it wouldn't have been covered even if it hadn't. Since I'm not in the mood to spend $400, I think I'll just live with it for now.

That sucks. If it's your video card, you can probably get a new one very cheap- like $40, if you aren't concerned about 3d acceleration.

edit:
Oh nevermind, it's a laptop. lol.
