What's with all the Neelix hating? LOL

I liked Neelix when he was helping others with their personal problems.

B'Lanna for instance when she was having Problems with tom Paris. Neexli listened and talked to her that she should give Tom a chance.

Nothing like a shoulder you can cry on.

Re Wes Crusher:

Envy turns to spite and spite turns into hatred. No one likes a Smart A..

Well said.

I loved Neelix.

Neelix was meant to be annoying because beneath the surface he was lonely and crying out for attention. He had no family or friends, so being on Voyager he finally felt needed and would do anything in his power to stay, as shown in "Fair Trade". I find "Once Upon a Time " a very underrated ep. for Neelix because fans focus on Flotter when they should be focusing on Neelix' desperation.

What I liked was, most of the details about Neelix are told subltily and in metaphor, so you have to read between the lines in order to understand the deeper emotions behind him. The complexity behind him wasn't as in your face as Be'Lanna or Seven. You learned about him by first understanding his history and then watching his actions and body language. He was comedic mask hiding an emotionally scared man.

Jar-Jar may have been annoying but he had exactly what the Queen didn't, access to an army of warriors. Making Jar-Jar far more important than the Jedi at the time.;)

I always thought of Neelix as I thought of Phlox on Enterprise. always cheerful and optimistic.

sometimes annoyingly so.

Still he did have his moments.

Neelix was supposed to represent the "crazy" old cook you see in those wagon train Westerns. They were quirky and odd but gave out unusual advice that when applied made sense.

Besides, I always say: how can you hate a guy that wants to throw you a party just because he can? Hell, I wish somebody would have a party for me in my honor just to make me happy. They'd be my new best friend.

^ ^ Wow, I didn't know that about the chuck-wagon cook. Well, that makes sense.
