Transporter accident cleanup.
Wearing a Red shirt on the original Enterprise.

Scraping space barnacles off the hull. Disorienting and dangerous, particularly if the ship goes into warp while you're doing it.
Maybe repairing and rebuilding all the shuttles that the crew of Voyager wrecked. But at least you would have job security.

There used to be this running joke on another message board I belonged to years ago that Chakotay was a shuttle wreck waiting to happen. I read somewhere there were like 17 wrecked shuttles over the course of the series. I wonder what the tally is for each person.

I'd say it's the engineering routine maintenance guys. The guys who are stationed deep in some rarely visited nacelle station who do one thing over and over but if they don't do it the ship explodes and if they trip up they get a plasma stream in their faces.
And you don't even get credit for your efforts, because the ship "cleans itself." Insult to injury.
