What's the most expensive or valuable ST item you own.

I know this might be akin to asking "What's your salary" for some people. But I think others might be curious to know and/or share.

Mine: 1/350 Polar Lights Refit Enterprise custom built by a friend of mine who, if not world class, is damn close at it when it comes to model building.

Wife was a little miffed at the cost of "A model".....until I pointed out how much she's spent of little pieces of crystalized carbon because they "look pretty to wear".

That pretty much ended the discussion.

^ Ha! I wish it was always that easy to finish this kind of argument.

This is a tough question for me. I tend to look for collectible items on the cheap. I would rather get something in a fair condition re-issued edition for $25 than the same thing in mint condition, original release for $225.

I have a couple of original Gold Key comics. But I don't think they are worth very much. Likewise with the original Marvel Comics adaptation of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture."

So even though I have a lot of Trek stuff, the most expensive Trek things I own are probably the TOS blu ray sets.

Well when I got the finished model and she saw the sheer amount of time and skill it took to build, paint, wire (yes it's lit) to the degree that it would make a decent stand in for a filming model and then I told her all that little thing on her finger was some carbon that just sat in the earth under pressure long enough to turn clear and it cost more than my model........she really didn't have a leg to stand on.

I don't buy big ticket items for personal enjoyment that often, but when I do the wife wants to complain all it takes to end it is for me to point out the ridiculousness of paying so much money for pretty little stones. Especially when you can buy artificial or replica ones for a fraction of the price and noone but a professional jeweler could tell the difference.:techman:

I have a very good condition Mego USS Enterprise playset in the original box, all pieces in their original plastic inside. With three MIB original figures. That was an awesome Christmas, back when we had disposable income. My wife got as many old Mego toys as she could find, but that one was the grand poobah that year.

My memories of interviewing Ronald D. Moore followed by Mike Okuda showing me around the TNG Art Dept.

My most valuable item would be my Phase II Enterprise study model...

beyond the fact that it took two years to build and was the result of 7 years of research... it is also the only one of it's kind in existence today. I'm slowly working towards building a kit based on this model with Custom Replicas... but I'm not in any big hurry to make this model one of many.

Second on my list is my two-thirds studio scale 33 inch TOS Enterprise study model...

It was my second attempt, but a vast improvement over my first study model... it is also something of a one-of-a-kind in that there are no other models representing the first model of the Enterprise (including the original model itself which was lost back in 1978/79). And it also represents years of research.

Third on my list is my one-half studio scale Galileo study model...

This is my first attempt at replicating the original studio model (with no influences from the large scale mock-up) as I work on documenting as much of the studio model's original features as I can.

And at some point my one-to-one scale replica of the 33 inch Enterprise will eclipse all of these. When finished it'll be the first and only studio scale replica of the original series Enterprise (at least until Commander Max finishes his studio scale replica of the 11 foot Enterprise model).

It'll be cool... and a little amazing that this is the first considering the number of studio scale replicas of Star Wars filming models that are in existence right now (there is a lot of them). But yeah, I like working on unique projects that haven't been done before.

It's not from Star Trek but all I can say is "Impressive......most impressive"

Is a program from the showing of TMP worth anything? That's the only thing of any monetary value I might possibly have.

My Original Series Enterprise Blueprints
My Hallmark Original Enterprise Ornament
My First Edition Making of Star Trek
My First Edition Star Trek 1-12 by James Blish, with J.A. Lawrence

:wtf:

Didn't you post this...

How is your model built by a friend from Star Trek but my models aren't?

I think he was referring to the " most impressive " quote not being from Star Trek.

I would agree, BTW, very impressive models.

Oh, okay... I guess that is what I get for not watching enough of that other science fiction franchise.

I own a large collection of ST memorabilia (along with some BSG and SW). The things that I prize most are my limited edition, crew-signed autographed photos; one each from TOS, TNG and DS9. I think it was about the time that DS9 signed off that I lost interest and that is why I never got one for VOY or ENT.

Not a great picture of it, but: Framed photo signed by 8 TOS Cast members, all obtained in person.
