Now that he's a synth, how long can he live?

Is it possible that he's still around in the 33rd century?

10-20 years ... until they write a reset button into his synth body.

He was told he'll live out his normal expected lifespan. Which I guess is about a season at worst, three at the very best.

Of course, this is because the Synths decided to set up the golem that way, even though it was originally built to give A.I.Soong life everlasting. It might be a matter of flipping a switch later on to turn Picard back to immortal.

Perhaps Picard is the origin story for Doctor Who?

They've dealt with the heart and parietal lobe issues, so he could last to at least age 140 in-story.

Of course, they could skip years to decades between seasons.

From what they said on Ready Room, Alison Pill seems like they don't skip far....they teased us a bit.

Come to think of it, the writers could skip such time spans between episodes.

They left it vague... on purpose. Picard said he wouldn't mind extra 10-20 years. Extra on top of what is not known. If he could normally live until 140 if he was healthy (and per Stargazer doc he was very healthy except for the thing in his head) and he is currently 94 and is really healthy now, he could have 50 years left. Not too bad at all. Considering he also lived a whole other life on Kataan, Picard will have around 200 years of multiple life(s) experiences by the time it's all said and done.

    Maybe get to 140.
With some new programming early on and regular maintenance,he could become effective immortal.

Based on what we can observe...Picard seems to have gained 35-40 years, so a total of maybe 140-150 years natural human lifespan had his brain defect never been a thing?

In context, I think he clearly meant the "extra" to mean beyond his recent death.

I didn’t get that at all. There is no point in him getting a new body and dying couple years from now because it was his natural time to die. It wasn’t clear at all. It’s vague on purpose.

Only Jurati and Altan know for sure.

It doesn't really matter as they can always transfer him into a new body if needed.

Jurati will be sticking around to keep an eye on him by the looks of it.

Would be funny if they actually did make him immortal and super strong without telling him, that way he will only find out when he really needs to.

My guess is something will come up in S2 that makes this more or less a one-off thing..

Was the Golem constructed by Altan, or Maddox, or both? It sounded like creating another one wasn't likely or even possible.

As long as he would want to, but it's strange Soong and the Synths would do such a thing and Picard will still be an old man. Maybe in season 2 he has some super powers or do things Neo from the Matrix can do... writing and breaking code, but I would rather the producers just cure him.

That's an interesting question, I haven't watched DISCO, does this have to do with Retcon-Spock's sister, Michael?

Does Altan always tell the truth? I do not completely trust Jurati.

I thought the whole ideas was a bit lame. It was so obvious that was going to happen that I dismissed it thinking it was too obvious. What was the point? They give Picard, a 94 year old man a fatal disease and then bring him back to life so that he can live out his remaining 10 years or so like normal. What's the point? Almost as lame as killing off Spock only to bring him back in the next movie. :wtf:
