What's the deal with that AMN news anchor?

The Borgified Corpse

Whenever Doctor Who or Torchwood has some major crisis going on on Earth, they show a montage of TV news anchors reporting on the subject. There's this one black woman with an American accent who consistently appears in these montages and she works for a network called AMN. Is she some established TV personality in the U.K.? Or is she supposed to be the anchor on some American news network?

If she's supposed to be on an American network, the show has made a serious error. This woman never seems to be wearing any make-up and always has gigantic bags under her eyes. I have never seen such a disheveled woman appear on an American news program. American news anchors tend to look like friggin' supermodels (except for the really old guys). There is no way this woman hosts an American TV news network looking the way she does. (That's not a criticism of her. I'm just saying that's the reality of TV news in the United States.)

So what's her deal?

Here she is, wearing make up, her hair done.

I don't see the problem.

Untrue. The Doctor has appeared in all 3. May just be a hand, but it counts.
that comes under "kinda" for me

Ewww, one of the worst of the Fifth Doctor's stories? What'd ya have to go and mention that for? *nightmares* :(

It's true though, that serial was pretty bad. :(

if ive just made a reference to a 5th Doctor story, then it just went totally over my head, my fifth Doctor starts and ends with Time Crash

Kinda (pronounced KIN-da)

^ You're mean! :(

*goes off to destroy every copy of that blasted Kinda in existence. It's ALMOST as bad as the Star Wars Holiday Special!*

What would you like to know?
well I dont want to hear about the crappy episodes.
Kinda is one of those marmite episodes - Love it or hate it. I happen to love it. :)

On topic the newsanchor's name is Trinity Wells and apparently will also be appearing somewhere in the season finale this year.

As well as being the only character to appear in all three shows she's the only character (I think) to be in every season's recording run, though I can't remember where I heard that.

I really liked Kinda as well, especially after I understood the intent of the writer and the script editor, the only things is that the production standards let the story down. Still Tegan's seduction to the dark side is a classic.

Count me in as another fan of Kinda. I love the dream sequences, which I find to be Kubrick-esque, and as DWF said, Tegan's seduction is classic. The last episode or so meanders a bit and the ending is a bit disappointing, but I think Kinda is better than the rap it gets.
