I apologize for the vagueness of my memories, but...

does anyone remember how there was a major writer for a gay magazine that said that he was dating a "prominent" baseball player - that this baseball player was well-known, and was gay, but that he hadn't publicly come out?

It was news for a while. My question is, does anyone know how this panned out? Did we ever find out who the guy was talking about (assuming it was true)?

Just curious about this. Personally I am very supportive of all lifestyles and I have no problem with gay athletes, I was just wondering if this story ever had further developments.

My guess would be he was refering to either Robbie or Sandy Alomar.

Why? Because Alomar spelled backwards is Ramola. They gotta be gay.
