What?

Butters

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Might be my ears, but what were they saying!

TSFS, Uhura and Mr Adventure in the transporter room. Right before she puts him in the closet, what does she say? ‘You wanted adventure, how’s this? You’re the...’

Sounds to my ear like German boy, but that makes no sense, unless I’m missing a reference.

Then in GEN. The last thing Chekhov says on the bridge before he forms a new medical staff because the medical staff won’t arrive until Tuesday. I can’t even, what. ‘We’re something something something something. No’ waves arms,’you, you, you’re with me’

What did he say?

Baffled for over twenty years.

TSFS: Now I know, I totally hear it. Thank you.

GEN: seems the universal translator glitched at that point :)

The universal translator has a context sensor built into it. It knows when you want to speak your own language for dramatic effect/to make a point/to conduct a conversation privately. See also Klingons on TNG/DS9.

According to Memory Alpha the Russian he used was the word Удивительно which translates to "Surprising!"

Less charitably, it's often used as the equivalent of "no shit" in the language. My Russian has gotten pretty spotty over the years but that line has always made me chuckle.

Interesting to hear the line spoken by a Russian. I always thought Koenig said something like, "Where would they be till now?" with the W pronounced (as Koenig always did) as a V.
