My non-fan co-worker & I came upon some Doctor Who books. He made some comment about a ray gun. I said, "More like a Sonic Screwdriver." He thought that a Sonic Screwdriver sounds like a drink. It got us to thinking, if a Sonic Screwdriver was a drink, what would be in it? My friend says vodka, orange, & some kind of energy drink like Red Bull. What do you reckon would be in a Sonic Screwdriver?
Apparently some people have already thought of that. The most popular recipe for a "Sonic Screwdriver" seems to Vodka and Blue Gatorade (Thanks, Google ). So pretty much just like a regular Screwdriver, only with Blue Gatorade instead of orange juice.
How about Vodka, Banana Liquer, and Orange Juice? That way you could get it in a real bar. Although I do think it should be a blue drink...
And if anyone's capable of being upright after a pint of gin I take my hat off to them! Well, I would if I had a hat. The arsekicking of racist idiots is a cheeky bonus.
How about for the blue, we go with something orangy but blue like blue curacao: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cura%C3%A7ao_liqueur Blue Curacao more You get the orange flavor of the screwdriver, the blue of the sonic effect, and you can add bananas... (OR you could just add food color to orange juice. (Green to make blue, right?) Still, maybe need something more....?
Sonic Screwdriver? I thought this was going to be a legit technical thread or something, now were talking. Ill get back to you on my idea... ...Yeah, a blue LED in the neck of the glass to make it glow. Beats olives, and itll look damn cool. Nah, thats illegal. He'd be arrested for even posting that.
I'd go with 1 ounce blue curacao 1 ounce of vodka and 1 of gin which goes well with citrus flavours, and is nicely british. Served in a cocktail glass and garnish with a stalk of celery. Always served with a companion shot of 1 ounce Banana Liqueur and 1/2 ounce triple sec. Or if you're drinking hard, make it a highball and add tonic water, drop the companion into the glass and down'er in one gulp. I'd have to actually make the drinks to play with proportions.
