My feeling is somewhere around $525 million. I think the numbers it picks up today will determine how it'll do in the long run. What kind of legs it'll have is going to factor majorly.

I'm simply hoping this'll finally beat Titanic, I don't care what total it takes to do that :D.

I rather doubt it will hit that level, simply because of the repeat viewing manic obsession of young teenage girls. And in many cases their mothers.

Then again, at roughly a half hour shorter in length, maybe more viewings of TDK can be scheduled. If "Return of the King" had been shorter, perhaps it might have beaten "Titanic".

^ Here, here!

It will need $600 million to do it, though. Titanic made $600,788,188 domestic.

I doubt any film will ever beat it's overall haul. Foreign, it made $1.2 billion. Foreign and domestic together adds up to $1.8 billion. The closest rival falls short by $700 million. That's quite a big margin!

Maybe all of us Bat-fans, comicbook nerds, whatever else, need to become obsessive about watching TDK? It can be a battle of the sexes, through movies! Who is more obsessive and insane to sit through a movie more times? :p

And their boyfriends! ;)

As much as I want The Dark Knight to dethrone Titanic, I don't think it'll happen. Titanic had some serious legs and ran during the off season, while The Dark Knight is during the summer with some competition (although nothing terribly big). It comes down to if The Dark Knight can maintain its audience in the long term.

On my fantasy moguls team, the prediction was for $225 million - total.

I might break $1 Billion this season.

I am guessing it'll do around 510 million. 540 being the upper bound and 480 being the lower.

Based on the PHENOMENAL takings thus far - that is, TDK has made in eight days what "Iron Man" took since March to bring in, I FIRMLY believe this film will be somewhere up around $500m.

That is FUCKING INCREDIBLE.

To be fair, Iron Man's haul was impressive in its own right.

Iron Man came out in May not March and was a complete unknown quanity, The Dark Knight is a sequel of what was already a hit movie.

Well, it FELT LIKE March - it's been THAT BLOODY long!!!!

And trust me......there are LOTS of people waiting for *ahem* a good copy to become available, if you know what I mean.

My guess is somewhere between $500 million and $525 million. I think it'll easily pass POTC: DMC, Shrek 2, etc but I also think it'll very likely fall short of Titanic.
