So I joined the BBS over a year ago to take part in the discussion of the new movie. But before there was word of the new Abrams movie, what was dicusssed in this forum?
I mean it was a year or two where there was no new star trek anywhere, in any form or am I mistaken?

I am just curious what kept people here and posting.

The remastered TOS was being aired. And before Abrams, there was much discussion of a Berman proposal for Trek XI.

Well, let's see. First the earth cooled. And then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died and they turned into oil. And then the Arabs came and they bought Mercedes Benzes. And Prince Charles started wearing all of Lady Di's clothes. I couldn't believe it.

I wasn't here then, but I would say it is the same thing that keep people posting at other genre-specific forums where there is no new content: the community. You meet people. You enjoy them. You continue talking with them whether or not it is about the thing that originally drew you there.

And there are always new fans that appear.

I haven't regularly posted about Star Trek since Nemesis came out.

I spend most of my time in Misc and SciFi/Fantasy. I'll be posting more about Trek once the new movie comes out, though.

Yup. Actual Star Trek discussion only makes up a small percentage of the actual forum load.

This isn't a "Star Trek discussion forum" so much as it is a community of Star Trek/Science Fiction fans.

People still talked about news and current events.

People still talked to each other because this board affords many a colorful character.

The non-(Trek) show forums. Plenty of discussion occurs around other series in other forums and then there's here and TNZ where all sorts of discussion takes place.

But, mostly, cousin sex.
