What TV shows would you like to see get a deluxe DVD release?

Irrespective whether any former or current TV show/s mentioned already is available on DVD or Blu ray (but you reckon its release could've included a lot more in the way of extras), or still isn't available, what greatly admired TV shows would you love seeing get a deluxe DVD release and please say why.

It's fine if anything mentioned falls into the scifi and/or fantasy category, but shows that have nothing at all to do with these genres can also be mentioned.

I'd like to see the various Law & Order shows get released on Blu-Ray.

Or, failing that, just STEP IT UP A BIT for regular DVD release. The original L&O, and Criminal Intent, have both been abysmally, GLACIALLY slow in their DVD release schedule. :brickwall:

(SVU would appear to be the exception, as it is darn near day-and-date...they just finished season 11 last spring, and it will come out on DVD soon)

I want Batman, uncut and remastered.

Load the set with videos, Adam West and Burt Ward commentaries, and maybe even include the Back to the Batcave TV movie from a few years back.

I can dream, right?

Dream, yeah. But the rights issues for the Batman series are so hopelessly convoluted that I doubt we will ever see it on DVD.

Which is a shame. I would be suprised if we ever see a release. However, with the Richard Donner cut of Superman II and the full Metropolis restoration, miracles in home video do happen.

That's what I was going to mention as well. It's an outrage, a travesty, a mockery, and a sham, along with being a mockery of a travesty of a sham that this is not out on DVD. For the longest time I held out hope that the fine folks at Shout! Factory would find a way to get it out, as they've been the DVD savior of so many other shows. I guess it's not to be. I used to have every episode recorded on VHS, but not anymore. If I had ever imagined it wouldn't come out on DVD, I might have kept them.

Wonder Years too. Won't ever see that either though because of all those uptight bullshit rights issues. Oh well.

I'd like to see any kind of DVD release of Now and Again - deluxe or otherwise.

And it would be great to see the remaining seasons of Hill Street Blues show up on DVD.

Most likely hell will have been frozen over for millennia before either of those things happens, though. :(

Every show ever made.

Please everybody that way, right?

My picks however, now that the Bionic shows are due out later this year are Eight is Enough and China Beach (which, like batman 1966 is a rights nightmare).

Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere and Lou Grant are at the top of my list. WKRP with the original music would be nice, too.

The Larry Sanders Show would be high priority, too, but it is coming out in November. I've pre-ordered...

I'd like them to release the Simpsons just a little faster. They've been going so slow we've been through several format changes and are nowhere near the end of the line.

What are you, a completist? All the best seasons of "The Simpsons" are already on DVD (1-8), so it no longer bothers me how slowly they're released. "Dream On" deserved better than to have only 2 seasons come out, but I understand why the sales were too low for all 6 seasons to be out. It's obscure and forgotten by many. It's a shame, though, because it's one of the most consistently entertaining, smart, and creative shows I've seen and was incredibly consistent for 6 seasons (only a few stinkers scattered throughout).

I think releasing only a few seasons and then stopping before releasing the whole series is worse than not releasing any at all. Like I said, I understand the sales making execs reluctant to release more, but screwing over the consumers like that is terrible. I think once the first season has been released, they ought to follow through with the rest. It's terrible that WB released three volumes of "Animaniacs", then stopped with only one more volume needed for all of the episodes to be out on DVD.

I agree about "Batman". I wouldn't buy it (a little goes a long way, as it gets too annoying after awhile so I wouldn't want to watch all the episodes), but it is deservedly considered an iconic show and the best episodes are true classics in a completely unique way. I especially love The Riddler, Egghead, and Catwoman episodes. I think those are the best villains on the show and would love to watch their episodes in DVD quality.

...

Actually, I am a completist. That aside, it may not bother you, but it bothers me, and since I'm giving this from my perspective of what I think should be given the full DVD treatment, it bears no relevance on whether you think it's good enough or not. ;)

S.O.V, I like how you managed to somehow be snotty and polite about your opinion at the same time. :D "The Simpsons" is actually one of the few series where I wouldn't mind if not all of its seasons came out on DVD since I don't think any are worth owning after season 8, but it's too popular for that to happen.

I just remembered, I really wish "Sneak Previews"/'Siskel & Ebert"/"At The Movies" would be released in DVD boxsets. I'm sure the rights issues would be a nightmare because of all the movie clips they've screened over the years, but a man can dream. I could watch hours of that show...their conversations were so passionate, insightful, and entertaining.

Just this morning I thought to myself, it would have been cool if the Stargate Atlantis complete DVD series had come in a box with a toy/replica of the Atlantis city ship on top of it, akin to the gravestone and grass on top of the Six Feet Under box set...

I do take issue with some Deluxe Box Sets when they purport to be "complete" but really aren't. The new Battlestar Galactica is guilty of this, which should come as no surprise being that they've been whoring out the DVDs and Blu-Rays for years. (A practice which, it seems, Caprica will be repeating).

That said, the "Deluxe" treatment? Hmm... I don't know. What I would like would be for older shows to include more special features, commentaries, etc. As it is, most older releases don't include these things yet easily could.
