What trends do you notice in certain authors?

What styles, quirks, or any other basic trends can you identify in Star Trek authors?

For example, we know that Diane Carey likes to use current Naval terms in most of her Star Trek books and has a tendency to glorify CAPT Kirk.

What other sytles jump out at you to the point where you could probably point out the author without their name on the front cover?
