What SFX upgrade is most badly needed in TNG?

My vote goes for "Yesterday's Enterprise." That battle with the Klingons was pathetic. So we have this Galaxy-class warship, the most powerful in Starfleet, bristling with phaser banks and photon torpedoes, and the best it can do is to fire a single short phaser blast at any one time against three enemy targets? LAME! I understand the SFX in 1990 couldn't give us VOY or DS9-like weapons effects, but still.

If they ever re-release TNG with updated SFX, I hope they completely scrap the exterior battle shots from Yesterday's Enterprise and re-do them with something kewl.

Runner up is that episode with the Children of Tama where the Enterprise fires phasers from its photon torpedo tubes. WTF? Fix that, please. Another would be the graveyard scene from BOBW. I'd love to see that viewscreen shot redone with actual visible hulks of recognizable ships like the Ambassador-class, Nebulae-class, Excelsior-class, Saratoga, etc instead of barely-visible kitbashes.

I remember really liking the battle at he time, though it could stand a few tweaks. What I especially hated were the phaser sound effects. ugh!!

As relatively lame as that episode's exterior shots may be, they do match the dialogue, so it might be tough to come up with something more exciting that matches lines like "course 1, 2, 3, mark -- correction. Course 4, 5, 6, mark 7, 8." :p

What TNG needs most badly is a viewership that can look past the dated special effects and enjoy the series for what it is – a product of its time.

Go back and get rid of the men wearing dresses in S1.

They were bad enough on the women.

Seriously, do you think that guy points out himself to all his friends?
