What of Janeway agreed to become the Ocampas new Caretaker?

It was Banjoman's brilliant idea born on his deathbed that she take over, but she turned him down.

75 years to get home through the treacherous unknown, or a couple months reverse engineering the Ocampan city and the Caretaker's array until she can move free between earth and Ocampa as well as strike any target in the Gamma Quadrant cutting short the Dominion War before it began much momentum at all.

This would make her their god like Caretaker was.

If the plan wasn't to cut and run, if the Caretaker showed Tuvok to the weapons controls before he bought the farm, if , if, if!

The Ocampa were a cow species that needed looking after.

What do you think happened?

Did she keep the Array?

Did she garrison Ocampa?

Did she accidental conquer and conscript the Kazon by defending herself with too many teeth?

They could have built shipyards and then a fleet and taken the entire species with them back to the alpha Quadrant?

All this of course means if that they wouldn't be saving and helping all the dipshits out there running from a good thump they were supposed to help for the next 21 years.

Although now that I think about it, it would have been an interesting series had Janeway taken charge of looking after the Ocampa. Something in a similar vein to DS9, except more wayward as there's no Federation backup. Saving the Ocampa from the scary Kazon sounds a little Western-y.

Hopefully in this weird new reality Janeway would do us all a favour and send the Kazon 70,000 light years away?

I think he should have just automated the Array to continue its functions and look after the Ocampa with an AI system. It agrees to not destroy VOY so they can stick around, so now they have a base/planet to return to while they explore around.
