I picked it up too. Seems mostly fun so far, but like the other Gears of War games this one isn't utterly spectacular. It's just cheesy fun with loads of violence.
I totally agree. I loved the 1st and 2nd one, but this one seems kind of blah.
Agreed. This game is awesome. It's good to play other characters in campaign. Beast mode is cool too.
I recently finished the campaign. Overall, I think Gears 3 is good fun and worth the money. I only disagree with the hyperbole that it's the best game ever made.

I think that, frankly, it's amazing. The campaign co-op is utterly smooth, there's no set-up, you just sit down and PLAY. The arcade mode turns every level into a totally different type of competitive game. Horde 2.0 is one of the most addictive forms of multiplayer madness I've ever come across, just brilliantly fun. I know it's only been just over a week so the staying power remains to be seen, but basically I think they've made an incredibly polished, fun game that I am going to play the campaign through at LEAST three times. It's a great game, highly recommended. Certainly not in the league of 'best games ever made', but a damned solid shooter with a vast array of MP modes.

Believe it or not I beat the queen by my lonesome with NO mutators, it took me an hour and a half but I did it.
Any tips on how to survive level 50 in horde mode? I always die on or slightly after level 20 ...
