The way they went about hand delivering a request to the "plasma relay room", it would seem somebody would be assigned there.

It was clearly a silly plot device meant to introduce us to one of the misfits in the episode. Like they couldn't reroute power from say, engineering.

It was a silly plot device but the crewmember also didn't want to be in Starfleet so his isolation may have been self inflicted.

No doubt about that. There were at least 2 other crew members down there when Janeway dropped in, so maybe the "room" was more important than I thought.

I’ll watch it and most likely enjoy it, but right now I’m finding it hard to feel too enthused for Lower Decks. I’d much rather have Discovery back first, then LD would be a bonus. At this rate I fear the third season will be premiering upwards of 2 years since the previous season.

Well, it looks like Lower Decks will air till mid-October. So looks like late Oct would be the earliest release date!!

I see 3 possibilities:

Oct: Discovery S3 part 1, Jan: Discovery S3 part 2
Oct: Discovey S3, Jan: Short Treks S3
Oct: Short Treks S3, Jan: Discovery S3

If they actually did more Short Treks then the last option is more likely. If they didn't do Short Treks then Discovery S3 split is the most likely. I do expect some new stuff in January.

It’s not soon enough! I’m sure I’ll enjoy Lower Decks when I see it, but I’m not exactly sleepless with excitement about it. A two year gap between DSC’s second and third seasons is too long in my book! But then, exceptional times and all that.

They may split the Discovery season like they did first season. First part start in October, second part in January. Alternatively there could be Discovery in October and Short Treks in January or vice versa.

I doubt they will split it as they learned doing so DOESN'T help them retain subscriptions.

They will probably delay it until they have something else actually in production so they can try and keep the 'lull' between new Star Trek episode content to a minimum. Long lulls are detrimental to retention.

Evening out the gaps would be the way to go.

I expect a premiere date to be announced towards the end of July, at Virtual Comic Con.

I was kind of right. It wasn't at Comic Con, but a premiere date was announced at the end of July.

Yeah, I think that prior to that post, I miscounted the weeks of Lower Decks, and thought it ended on 15th, so was expecting Disco at least a week later.

Yup, so just a one week wait for DSC!!
