What kind of Trek cartoon do you want?

I noticed that as one of the things we might see and I have felt for awhile this could be a good idea. Some modern cartoons or CGI or however one calls it I think could be interesting. Maybe this would be a good place to have the first non-starfleet based trek show. CGI plus aliens sounds like a good idea. I know some people have wanted a Klingon show for years and that might be cool. Of course they could have a younger audience in mind as well and go for a Ferengi comedy.

I can't say why, but i don't think i would like an animated show.

Although it does make it easier i guess to have more non humanid aliens and more amazing special effects

I've like an animated series that appeals to a younger audience and embraces, perhaps, some of the potential of Trek that a live-action show can't. It costs the same for a cartoon to animate two people talking in a conference room or some amazing water world with dragon people, so let's see more of the latter please.

The core of Trek is made for an imaginative cartoon series that kids can enjoy. "Explore new life and new civilisations" indeed.

Would love to see a decent mass market Trek toyline again too, and a cartoon series would be the best way to achieve that!

Colour me crazy but I was kind of interested in the animated project they pitched ages ago, think it was just after Ent had folded. Details are a bit hazy but it was set aboard the ent-f/j after a load of Omega particles had been detonated across the galaxy. Starfleet was fractured but rebuilding.
I know it's a pretty cliche pitch these days and we don't need the captain to be the great grandson (or whatever) of Jim Kirk but the art style seemed decent and it was far enough removed from the then current continuity that it gave it some breathing room in terms of the stories it could tell.

Something in the vein of what Disney has done with Star Wars Rebels - an entertaining action adventure cartoon mostly aimed at children, but with enough emotional investment it can take its characters pretty seriously - and while the show has room for appearances from well known characters from the franchise, the core of the story is about its own, new characters. That mixture of standalone and arc content is also more or less what I'd like from a Star Trek series, right down to hopefully being based around a new cast (as much as I enjoy the original animated series.)

And do some stuff you can't do well in live action. Very odd aliens, like Lieutenant Arex - or hell, specifically Lieutenant Arex - is a good idea to me.

An anthology series set in all eras.

Maybe to tie it all together the protagonists could be Temporal Agents?

I don't think Arex himself is essential - or even necessarily desireable - but I'm on board more alien aliens. Maybe something like USS Titan but without the 'crutch' of Riker, Troi and Tuvok.

I like how the writer of one of the Titan books, had a non human character note that despite the diversity of the ship, (mainly nonhumans) most of those in charge were still humans, even though they were a minority group.

Something that gets all the kids to come see the Star Trek movies, so they keep making them forever and ever. And that make them buy all the toys, so there are more of them, too.

    That'll make me happy.

You know this actually wouldn't be a bad idea for my Pike living on Talo's with Vina idea. A cartoon that can bring that alien world alive along with all the weird aliens they ensalved plus Pike and VIna being able to use mental powers to create all other sorts of alien enviroments.
This other idea might be to insider for casual fans but what about a Gary Seven show dealing with those aliens who abducted him and trained him. Still I think a distant future setting could easily be what they do. What about a Data living in the 29th century idea? See if Spiner would come back and do the voice. That or a TImeship series though I am guessing they would avoid Captain Braxton since he keeps being screwed over into becoming crazy for no fault of his own.

Actually, although a good chunk of the PoV characters are human, the senior staff are relatively light on them. Although only one or maybe two of the senior staff could reasonably be called non-humaniod (Dr Ree and possibly Lavena), currently (not counting Riker as the Fleet Commander) there are only five humans (or part-humans) that could be considered department heads/senior staff out of a total of 13 posts: Vale, Troi, Radowski, Ogawa and Rager are only humans, and Troi is stretching the definition.

However, Sarai, Tuvok, Hachesa & Gibruch, Ra-Havreii, Keru and Pazlar are all humaniod so I suspose you could argue that there's still room for progress?

Have one based on the rebooted TOS movies. Only, this time, have imagination & creativity be the order of the day. Last time STAR TREK had a cartoon, the background Art was the best thing about it. The show was only half an hour long and an incredible bore. Aliens usually consisted of 4 footed animals drawn standing upright (sometimes without so much as a uniform, tunic, or other outfit and the animation was rather static, even for its day. I mean ... the WB cartoons from the 40's had more realistic and flowing movements than what the 70's TAS offered. Anyway, if they can just make it entertaining that's really the only STAR TREK cartoon worth viewing, in my opinion. No TNG cartoons, no Riker and TITAN animated adventures. Please ... just leave my show alone.

I don't think they can - given the division between Paramount and CBS. If they could, I suspect they would have set Discovery in the Kelvin timeline (one Kurtzmann helped create and which Fuller had hoped to set a show when idly discussing ideas in 2013.)

There's only one thing for me to do, then: win the lottery, buy the STAR TREK franchise and consolidate the damn thing so we can get some decent entertainment, around here.....!!!!

I can only second this as I can't add anything more to the idea.
