What kind of reader are you?

Zulu Romeo

World Famous Starship Captain

It's that time of the year again where someone posts a link to an online self-testing quiz for all to enjoy and discover something about others and themselves. :)

This one should be interesting here: What kind of reader are you?

My result:
Your Result: Literate Good Citizen

You read to inform or entertain yourself, but you're not nerdy about it. You've read most major classics (in school) and you have a favorite genre or two.

Book Snob
Fad Reader
Dedicated Reader
Non-Reader
Obsessive-Compulsive Bookworm
:bolian: Quite odd as I'm not that into books, myself. At least, not anymore.
Quite an interesting breakdown too, placing obsessive-compulsive at the bottom and a variety of strengths of reader in between.

How do you fare?

Hmmm, not sure I trust this particular test:

Obsessive-Compulsive Bookworm

Book Snob
Dedicated Reader
Literate Good Citizen
Fad Reader
Non-Reader

However, I haven't actually read a book that I just wanted to read in months.

I gave up at question 4

When you hear about a new huge best-seller, what do you do?

Decide that whatever you do, you'll never read that book. Too plebian.

You look up the review in the TLS to see if it's really any good or not.

You run out to your nearest Barnes & Noble or Borders to buy it.

You pretend you already read it when people are talking about it
at a party.

You wait for the movie version.
Where's the option for "I borrow it from the library"

Your Result: Dedicated Reader
You are always trying to find the time to get back to your book. You are convinced that the world would be a much better place if only everyone read more.
Result Breakdown:
78% Dedicated Reader
74% Literate Good Citizen
53% Obsessive-Compulsive Bookworm
48% Book Snob
47% Fad Reader
0% Non-Reader

Seems pretty accurate to me!

Dedicated reader.

However i am not as dedicated as I used to be. I used to read three times as much but that plummeted when I got the internet on at home :(.

I do tend to be reading more than one book at a time. At the moment I am reading a historical novel set in Iceland (Iceland's Bell by Halldor Laxness), a crime mystery (The Cat Who Ate Danish Modern) and a non-fiction book with a local flavour (Underground Hobart - the World Beneath the City).

I have several books in my to-read pile with more on the way from Amazon.

I don't read much science fiction anymore. Once it used to be my favourite genre but nowadays I get must of my sci-fi and fantasy fix via TV or the movies.

Well I like to do it in bed, but outside on a blanket if warm enough. I prefer thick and hard and it must have substance to keep me interested. I usually have 2 or 3 on the go ~ after all variety is the spice of life :)

:wtf::wtf::eek::eek::wtf: What are you actually talking about there???

Literate Good Reader - same as OP. My wife can't stand the piles of books I have all around the house. Although I'm in grad school...most of it's scholarly stuff.
