"WHAT IS YOUR NAME?" Audio distortion at Apple?

Anyone else hearing audio distortion (crackling) when the cop asks "What is your name?" I'm hearing the same thing on both the "large" and "medium" versions.

After the Large had it, I cleared my Temp Int. Files cache, and tried Large again, but it loaded immediately anyway...and still had the noise. Then I tried Medium, and that took time to load, so I figured I was safe.

It still crackled.

Anyone else hearing this?

I'm gonna go try one of the high def versions now... :(

Yeah, I heard it too. Dunno if its supposed to be there or not. At least we've lost the munching popcorn sound over the title screen at the end. ;)

It has to be, if it's not... then... uh... damn!

Guys why is the cop so weird what are those cheeks for???

Is this a joke?

No.

I thought something was wrong with the version I chose, the download, or with my speakers.

Then it happened with one of the HD versions too, and someone above says they hear it as well.

All I'd heard before was the bootleg one, and there was no distortion (that I could hear) on that. Figured something was wrong, but I guess not.

No joke. I was just hoping to see (and hear) the best copy available.

Nothing more.

I think it's supposed to be like that. If it's really a guy in a helmet, and he's talking out of a little speaker, it's conceivable that it's supposed to be crackling, especially the way it distorts the voice a wee bit.

There was never any audio distortion in TOS.

CURSE YOU J...J!!!! *shakes fist angrily at heavens*

Actually I was wondering the same thing.

The distortion sounds normal when I watched the bootleg trailer, but in the new official version I am hearing a crackle that I'm fairly sure is not supposed to be in the audio.

Like the OP, I think - my guess is there's something about the distortion that actually IS there that is somehow messing with our speakers.

yes its supposed to be this way! In the german version of the trailer the voice is also distorted this way

Thank you.

Seems for certain it was done deliberately now.

Although I'm now disturbed by Spock sounding like a 14 year old in German.

As mentioned, it's in at least one foreign language version too. As said above, I think it's meant to sound that way.

He'll rue the day!!!!!
