What is your favourite version of the intro?

At this point, I'm somewhat partial to the "electric violin" arrangement because it reminds me of the various Theremin assisted scores from 1950s sci-fi movies, the most famous example arguably being "The Day the Earth Stood Still". Though I find the Ondes Martenot has a much richer sound. If you've watched "GhostBusters" or "Heavy Metal", you've heard that distinctive, early electronic keyboard. Okay, that last bit has nothing to do with Trek's opening scores, just a personal aside.

Sincerely,

Bill

Season Three; it seemed the most 'dramatic' to me, especially the build-up during Nimoy's credit, and the final notes as Kelley's name flys in.

The soprano in combination with the music in Season Two does it for me. The vocals give it a more spacey feel indicative of the 60s era.

Man, do I hate that voice. Nothing against the woman singing, she did what she was paid to. I much prefer season one, with its dry, dignified, unmelodramatic orchestra. At least the voice melded with the instruments originally. In Remastered though , they exaggerated the voice, and put it out front, in all its precious, cheesy (a word I dislike but can't think of better one now) cringe-making glory. I love it about as much as I love unicorns dancing on rainbows.

I have an impression the voice is most popular among non-SF fans, more mainstream TV viewers, who may mistakenly think fun cheesiness is what Trek's all about.

Sorry if you love it.

Yeah can't really disagree with that. The vocalist just takes the theme into cheese city.

The end title and first season versions just sound much better to me.
