What is your favourite season of nu Who so far?

4
2
1
3

With that said, that's for the overall season. However, I've not seen a run of consecutive episodes as strong as the midseason run in S3 that culminated with Utopia, esp. Human Nature/The Family of Blood.

Speaking of which, I read at OG that Season 3 is going to be entering DAYTIME rotation on US Skiffy, I believe next month. This is good news, because it's been running at 5am Friday morning/Thursday night for quite some time.

My ranking goes:

1 - favorite; Eccleston is awesome!
4 - loved Donna!
3 - hey, I liked Martha!
2 - worst by far of the nu Who

My ranking is:

4 - Doctor-Donna interplay is awesome. Nice to see a companion who thinks the Doctor is nuts and doesn't go ga-ga over him.
1 - Eccleston is fantastic!
3 - has some awesome episodes like Gridlock and Blink. Really only suffers in Daleks in Manhattan.
2 - season 2 isn't as great as the others in comparison IMO

I really liked Season 4. It just seemed consistantly great every week and I feel it's a season I can rewatch on a regular basis. I don't feel that way with Season 2 or maybe a little of Season 3. Season 1 would be my second favorite.

Ditto. That's about the order I would put them in.

Season 2 has copped a lot of flak in this thread. It only really had 'School Reunion', 'Girl In The Fireplace', 'AOG/Doomsday' and 'The Satan Pit/ The Impossible Planet' in its favour. Then you've got the dire episodes like 'The Idiots Lantern', 'Fear Her' and 'Love and Monsters' (urgh)

Yup, those four episodes are the highlights for me, too. The rest of the season is merely enjoyable to disappointing, "Love and Monsters" in particular because it had an interesting premise but went down the wrong road halfway through.

season 4! i was a bit apprehensive about donna as the new companion, but she worked it really well. made their banter more interesting instead of the the usual fawning. and what a sad end to her char. wish she continued on.

For me season 1 and 4 are about equal- both very consistent with a great Doctor and a great companion.

Season 2 suffers from Tennant being at his gurniest and most manic, linked with a Rose who has become almost unrecognisable as the great companion of season 1. Seriously if she hadn't left at the end of the series 2 I'm not sure how long I could have put up with her and Tennant's immature giggling schoolgirls routine!

Having said that S2 does have Tooth and Claw, School Reunion, TGITFP (which although I think is flawed is enjoyable) the impossible planet/satan pit and AOG/Doomsday

Season 3 is limited by having a fairly bland companion who was then saddled with a ridiculous crush on the Doctor. It's also got some dire episodes (Daleks, 42, The Lazarus Code- not to mention RTD's worst season finale) but, on the plus side Smith and Jones, The shakespeare code and Gridlock are good, while Human Nature/Family of Blood, Blink and Utopia are fantastic!

I can't pick between 2 and 3 either so will lump them together!

Best season 1/4
Worst season 2/3

I think it suffers in comparison to the other series because it hasn't aged as well. There are a lot of lightweight stories, and Rose is pretty objectionable throughout. I watched AOG/Doomsday recently, but I didn't really enjoy it much. The ending is still very sad, but the rest of the story is really quite rubbish when you know what is going to happen. The Girl in the Fireplace is probably in my top five, but that's the exception.

I rank them 1, 4, 2, 3.

As other people have observed, the Eccleston/Piper chemistry is fantastic, also the stories have a wierd feel to them that the later seasons don't quite have (IMO). Season four is a very close second - Donna is a really good companion and there is very little to complain about story-wise.

Definitely Season 1

I think it's because it has sentimental value, being the first I was able to enjoy The Doctor since I was a little girl watching it with my mom...but also because Eccleston is brilliant.

Season 3 would come in second: Blink scared the daylights out of me in a deliciously wonderful way.
