It's really difficult for me to choose. I'm going to have to go TOS/TAS, closely followed by TOS Movies, closely followed by the CBS stuff, closely followed by Berman.

But that's not to say it's a clear first place, second place, third place thing. I enjoy them all.

The CBS era can do whatever it wants. I'm not slamming it. I just prefer something a tad more...conventional.

It's like Discovery's future: I kinda have a hard time relating to an era where everything is made of light...

I rememberi seeing a an interview with Ronald D. Moore when he compared TOS popularity among his friends v.s the TNG era shows. He said TOS was still the most beloved for a long time but he saw that changing in recent years. I believe he described TOS's popularity as "Fleeting". Which makes sense as the years march on. We will get fewer and fewer people who "grew up" with that show.

The reason I posted this poll is that I honestly wasn't sure where traknation stood on how popular the current shoes are relative to the previous eras. Certain placees on youtube, imdb reviews and rotten tomatoes (fan votes) made it seem like most trekkies are against the current shows. But in other places, the subforums in this website and Trek Movie.com , I got the opposite vibes.

Berman shows being on top (at the moment) is slightly surprising but not as much when I think about it. There was allot Berman hate while those shows aired but it seems to be getting allot more credit especially since we can now compare it with a subsequent regime. On the flip side, one can argue TNG era shows now have nostalgia on tis side, (which is a thing like it or not) - something they didn't have while they were being aired.

Classic being way ahead of Kurtzman is what surprises me the most. Maybe that's just a reflection of what kind/age group of Trek fans we have in the Trekbbs. I wonder if I had a bigger platform and posted that poll on twitter, how different the results would be.

Berman always struck me as the most popular. My friends liked it the best, going to conventions I would see more costumes of TNG/DS9. Many fan activities I saw were often oriented around Berman. The only place the Classic era stood out was with fan productions where efforts were made to continue forward TOS.

Berman as a showrunner might have gotten a lot of flak, but I never saw the shows as being unpopular.

The same thing will happen to people who grew up with the TNG era shows too, though. What will future generations be more into?

The TOS era has much easier entry points for new fans. TOS Season One is light years better than TNG Season One, obviously. And in terms of movies, the TNG era has only one, shall we say, competent movie.

Like I said earlier, I think fandoms generally "hate" whatever the newest version of their beloved franchise is, with only rare exceptions. So, it's no surprise that the nostalgia for the Berman era and the current frustration for the Kurtzman era is fueling the responses.

In 15 years, everyone will be talking about now the (insert newest version of Star Trek here) era sucks, and if only it was as good as the Kurtzman era, everything would be right with the world.

It's why I don't take these kinds of polls seriously.

I go with Berman era. Voyager is my first Star Trek, alongside with TNG rerun. I watched ENT after school weekly. DS9 is my favourite Star Trek overall. Sorry, Classic
Prodigy and Lower Decks are awesome, looking forwards for more seasons.

The Original Series era spanned 25 years, it's been only half that time since Star Trek '09 and we've had just 4 years of Discovery. There were more than 600 episodes in the Berman era. The Kurtzman era is about to hit 100.

You don't have to come up with theories about how nostalgia is to blame for the poll results, when the Kurtzman era is up against an absolute mountain of stories.

I hope Kurtzman Trek doesn't reach the same episode count as Berman Trek. But not for the same reasons as certain other people. I hope it doesn't make it that far because I want to still like it by the end of it.

People are seriously forgetting how sick of Berman Trek they were in the early-2000s and are now acting as if their getting sick of it never happened. That's why nostalgia's rose-tinted.

When we eventually get to the Fourth Generation of Star Trek on television, I don't want it to be and I don't expect it to be exactly like the first (TOS-TAS), second (TNG-ENT), or third (DSC+).

I'm in the middle of rewatching the whole Berman era at the moment and I get the impression that a lot of other people here revisit episodes quite often. Sure the era lost a lot of viewers by the end, that's why it ended, but people never got sick of watching the good stories and they're well aware of what seasons were good and which didn't work out. In fact Enterprise season 4 is considered one of the good seasons.

I change my mind too much for my contribution to the poll to be meaningful. I initially voted TOS, but recently I've been enjoying a lot of comfy Berman Trek and I'm very excited for Season 2 of Picard and Strange New Worlds.

The only thing of any value that I can say is "I like Star Trek".

On reflection I guess my Epitaph will be "He liked Star Trek".

I get it. I can be cruising along loving some Berman era something when I see or hear something IRL reminds me of something from TOS era, then I got that one stuck in my head. Yeah, that's it, just like songs! :luvlove:
