What is the trope of "you have powers so you have a 50/50 chance of being evil?"

I don't get that. They do it in CW shows and I hated it in The Flash. I thought the writing for Caitlin sucked. Just because she might have powers why does that automatically turn you evil, well because that's what the writers want but I find it a bit juvenile.

Barry didn't come out evil and he has powers, hell he's the star of the show. Sorry but I really liked the 1st and 2nd season but the more I watch the more this show feels so uneven at times.

I'm talking about two women with the same name, from parallel worlds.

Caitlin 2 from Earth 2, did not go to college, and that is why she is evil.

Caitlin 1 From Earth 1, was locked in a box by a second personality, Killer Frost, who had no tools for behaving well in the real world, to begin with.

According to Caitlin's dad Icicle, ice powers give you an evil ice personality %100 of the time, which is 100/0 odds, but that's the episode where Killer Frost decided that she didn't want to be a killer.
