What is the height of a docking pylon?

Maybe you can find the dimensions of the toy/model online and it's scale, and then calculate that back to real size.

The DS9 Technical Manual states "height of docking pylons (total)" as 969.26 metres. So, it's about 484.6 metres from the outer docking ring to the top or bottom of the pylons.

By comparison, the Empire State Building is 381 metres tall.

I had no idea it was that big.
Sisko wasn't kidding when he called it a Cardassian monstrosity.

^ DS9 is huge, that's sometimes something that doesn't come across all that well on the small screen. Probably the best times to see its scale are the big multi ship battles in Way of the Warrior and Sacrifice of Angels. But I've always felt a few of the surface details of the station were out of scale - the torpedo turrets and runabout landing pads seem too big.

I suspect that the station's theoretical size was originally much smaller than it wound up being after the Enterprise-D was shown docked to an upper pylon. :p

Essentially, the station was declared nearly twice as large as the model would indicate when TPTB began assigning a scale to it.

The Ops and Promenade windows on the model, as well as the runabout pads, support a station that is more or less 1000 m across. But the visiting starships all suggest a much larger station, and the problem became acute when the Defiant arrived and thus a recognizable vessel was in every other shot.

Comparison with Galaxy class in "Emissary" already makes the station twice as large as the model was intended to show. Comparison with Nebula class in episodes like "Second Sight" or "Explorers" makes the station about thrice as big as the model windows indicate. Basically only the comparison with the Oberth class ship in "Emissary" suggests a station of roughly the intended 1000 m size, if not even smaller!
