Spoilers What is Everyone's Thoughts on Recasting Actors (new series)

After the "Lower Decks" episode focussed on DS9 characters, I was half-expecting an animated revival of DS9 when LD ended. But Avery has always been confident about his non-participation in associated projects. The Terry Farrell-hosted "Making of..." documentary at the end of Season One had to omit all mention of Sisko Sr from it, so I can well imagine him not approving use of his likeness in an AI follow-up episodic series.
What is this documentary you're talking about? And why would such a thing have to "omit mention" of Sisko??

Terry Farrell hosted the 1993 documentary "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – Behind the Scenes". It aired during the hiatus between Seasons 1 and 2. She took viewers on tours of the sets during the pilot's creation. Noteworthy was Avery Brooks' total absence from the project. He was protesting the expectation that he should do such promotional work after the season had ended.

No! No! Never!

Since Brooks has quit acting and Auberjonois are not among us anymore, it's no idea.

It could only be made if they could come up with perfect animations which looks exactly like the characters did in the series.

I'm against a continuation of DS9 or a reboot of Ds9. The only thing I want done with DS9 is a nice hd clean up, but I won't be heartbroken if it doesn't happen. It's ok for a thing to be where it was in a moment of time. It's more precious for that. Our greed to be entertained exactly the way we want to be is mindless.

Eventually (soon) that will be possible. It still will be horrible and an abomination, though.

Never in a million years will computer generated shit be better than a real performance.

You couldn't be more wrong.
It can, if the "recast" actors aren't up to it and I've seen too many examples of that in horrible "reboot" series.

Or to take an example, I'd rather see a computer generated Odo than some third-rate actor who doesn't look like the Odo we had in the series which was played by the excellent actor Rene Auberjonois.

"Looking like" the character isn't the damn point.

Oh yes, it is.

If the new actor don't look as the character, then it would be impossible to think or even imagine that it is the character.

Which is the main reason why I can't stand reboots.

If what I see on screen don't look like, Odo (as an example) or don't act like Odo, then it isn't Odo.

Not to mention that most of the reboots I've watched have been terrible when it comes to acting and storytelling.

Like reboot MacGyver, Wallker Texas Ranger and Magnum PI. All downright horrible.

Animated continuation (or stories that take place before/during the series). It's not AI, the characters look like they did in DS9, and voice-actors could get the voices down. I'm not saying I'm looking for a continuation, but animation would be the way that checks off all the boxes.

I don't think animation will happen, nor will a reboot, but in the abstract, I think animation could work.

At one point I would have been all for it. But I have been so disappointed by the latest offerings by a variety of franchises including Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of The Rings, and others that I'm seriously getting to a point I just want good old series/movies left alone.

DS9 is done. The story is over. Let it just exist. No need to resurrect the show, especially not with some soulless AI abomination.
they could just remaster it and improve the visuals of ship battles, add some outside shots of different planets in between scenes, maybe change some of the other planets who look exactly like earth to look somewhat different. and just keep the same show as it was just in 4k.

But why? The show is great as it is. It needs tinkering like Citizen Kane needs to be colorized.

If Citizen's Kane's space battles were rendered in low resolution CGI with some inaccurate spaceship models, I wouldn't be against re-rendering them with modern tech as part of a HD remaster.

if you are not changing anything in the writing and just improve the CGI where it needs improving. and you add some shots of different planets in between scenes. and of course. making it either 4k or hd. the point is. you are not changing anything. just improving visuals
