What if the Crusades never stopped, and The Christian Crusaders survided into the 23rd century? :D

Since the Christians hate science, I doubt they would've ever developed the technology to make it to the stars.

A fun idea. Though that would be a really looooong movement. Like... 1,300 years of conflict! And what would they be crusading for in space? ;D Space Christians fighting to reclaim Space Jerusalem from Space Muslims?
Given the Nazi and Rome TOS episodes, I could imagine a similar kind of premise with parallel crusades happening on another planet, but with spaceships.

Since the Christians hate science, I doubt they would've ever developed the technology to make it to the stars.

Not to start a fight, but science in Europe was kind of invented by Christian protestants, haha.
Though the Crusades themselves opened Europe to the Islamic world, which was more invested in experimentation and stuff, so the Crusades actually sort of contributed to the kindling of scientific fervor in Europe, which eventually took on a decidedly Christian motivation following the Reformation.

But if petty conflicts like the Crusades went on for over 1,000 years... I doubt any scientific progress would have happened at all!

Great looking ships!

And if we want to get into history... European scientific progress and the Church are not as closely tied as is generally assumed. The fact is, the climate towards scientific investigation oscillated quite a bit from the fall of the Roman Empire to the start of the Renaissance. Believe it or not, Europe was in a steady upwards technological climb throughout the medieval era, including during the crusades.

As for a lack of technological development during a lengthy period of petty conflict... I suppose you haven't heard of the Cold War... or Most of the Twentieth Century. Military needs are one of the biggest drivers of technological development.

If the Crusades had continued for a thousand years, it would have to have cooled off to Cold War status over and over. A thousand years of constant warfare would not be sustainable for either side. Only in Warhammer 40,000.

In other news, I love the fact that you modeled a Saladin-class destroyer and painted it with Christian iconography. I love historical irony.

Apologies. I was pretty sloppy in my wording and it should've been more in line with what you said.

Thank you, and as For The saladin Class ships that's was the irony i was going for! lol Thank you for not being negative about my idea. I've seem some pretty outrageous designs in my time. Just thought it would be a fun Idea!

Very nice! This would have gone well with last month's challenge! I'm not particularly familiar with what was worn during the Crusades, is this based on something specific?

You missed out on the art contest a couple of months ago. These would have made nice entries for the alternate livery contest.
