what if an ambassador class is in the battle in first contact?

I don't know...what if an ambassador class vessel is in the battle of sector 001 in star trek first contact?

Not sure what you're hoping for here...

Bend Cat Blue, I'm afraid we don't understand your query. Could you possibly post further? Thank you.

Well, that would be awesome, that's what. I like the Ambassador class, and since they are heavy cruisers, I'm sure it was good news for Starfleet that one was in range to intercept the Borg vessel and try to help.

That was the Yamaguchi. IIRC, it was said to have been destroyed. I love the Ambassador class too. To me, they are the Nimitz to the Excelsior's Forrestal (and by extension, the Constitution refit's Midway-class and TOS Constitution's Essex-class.)

:rommie:

There probably was and it was just destroyed before the Enterprise arrived. It's not like it has anywhere near the firepower of an Akira, Defiant or Sovereign-class starship.

There wouldn't have been much difference.

It's like asking a question, what if you strap a paper bag to a cat before throwing it off a building, will it fall slower?

And the Galaxy's . . . ? ;)

Who says there wasn't? Memory Alpha? Why would being an Ambassador class starship guaranette destruction prior to Enterprise's arrival on the scene? There were Miranda Class ships that survived the Dominion. Many ships were too far away for us to determine the class on the screen so for all we know there were a dozen that survived the battle.

This is akin to asking if a Naboo ship would have made a difference if it was part of the rebel fleet in Star Wars Return of the Jedi- There is nothing to indicate there wasn't one.

Non-canon of course, but isn't Calhoun's Exaclibur supposed to have been heavily damaged and lost a good deal of its crew (including the Captain) during the Borg attack?

Other than that, I don't see what difference on Ambassador class would make, and I doubt it would survive - even the more heavily armed Defiant got the snot beaten out of it...

Yeah....given that more modern ships like Defiants, Akiras, Steamrunners and Sabers were getting their asses handed to them by that cube until Picard showed up with his Magic Firing Coordinates(tm) , I'd say an Ambassador would have been lucky to stay in one piece until the Big E arrived to save the day.

^there is no canon source of how long those (even their own names aside from the Defiant) have been in service(besides the Defiant). For all we know, one of those came out around the same time as the Ambassador Class. Besides First contact happened only 30 years after Enterprise C was lost, and it was the top of the line back then. It probably would have fared better than Mirandas and Excelisors which we all know were in service back in Kirk's day, especially if they had refits.
