What i love about Neelix

Mina Wolf

Ensign
Red Shirt
What i love about Neelix he’s intellectual, thoughtful, charismatic, and an expert communicator. He may be annoying, pesemistic, paranoid, jealous and no one likes his appearance, but he’s charming, complex, and has an open mind and heart. he’s always able to be there for you when you need it. He’ll gladly listen to your problems and work to give you the best advice. Because he can detach and view things objectively, you always know he’s keeping it real. To top it all off, his natural quirkiness and great sense of humor make everything better, and just like a true best friend, he’s always there by your side through thick and thin. He is very Sweet, Kind, Caring, Loving, Generous, Funny, Smart, Brave, Noble, Respectful, Loyal and most of all Sincere. Thats what i love about Neelix and if i were Kes i would never ever leave him i will always be with him and love him forever and ever.

He’s not intellectual and he wasn’t thoughtful until 7 of 9 years.

Any scene with Neelix always has the potential to add a bit of humour and I love how he is a confidant of the captain and other members of the crew such as his relationship with Tuvok. He's someone who you know you can share a problem with and he will get it resolved in a discreet and sensitive way. He's not perfect and makes mistakes but that shows a human side. I think Janeway has more personal trust in Neelix than Chakotay or Tuvok.

Ethan Phillips is also a legend and I've never heard a bad word said about him. Despite the hours of makeup he had to endure he was known for being one of the most upbeat people on the set and it's nice to know Kate Mulgrew and Ethan are close friends even today and they probably phone each other for a natter.

My thoughts... each character had strengths and weaknesses. Janeway was strong, but inconsistently written. Chakotay was likable, and had great chemistry with Janeway, but he was underused. Tuvok was one of the best Vulcans written. Seven had a great premise, but her eye candy outfits were one step backward for womankind.

As for Neelix, he was an energetic, cheerful, and adaptable soul, very much a people person, with a genuine humanity to him in some more serious storylines. On the other hand, he could be grating sometimes, and really needed to let Tuvok be Tuvok.

The second part is so untrue. He's established very early on as one of the characters that others tend to talk out their problems to, both technical and personal.

That being said, I had a strong bias against him until Kes left because their relationship grossed me out.
