What did a learn about ST at Wondercon? As expected not a lot, I'm really not expecting any ST news there. There were a couple of conferences on the movie but I'm trying to avoid spoilers so I passed on those.
IDW did a conferance on what was happening this year but it was all original stuff. Someone asked if there was any Star Trek news and they said there would be a conference the next day on the licensed stuff as they didn't know.
The next day they had something that was advertised as the movie tie-ins, Transformers, G.I. Joe and Countdown. I think a lot of people were expecting move news or something because quite a few people left after like the 2nd slide of the presentation.
It was the most boring presentation I saw in 3 days there, of course it didn't help I didn't give a crap about Transformers or G.I. Joe movies/comics. The 2 writers of Countdown where there but I honestly can't remember anything they said during the talk, just generic "great working with Abrams, Orci, etc" and "we're really excited about the artist we got", that kind of stuff. They did say something about comic #4 which I'll put in as a spoiler although I'm not sure if it's a spoiler or not, but I thought it was interesting:
Then they took questions. I got to hear the most awesome question "J.J. Abrams is involved on the Star Trek series so we know that answer for that one but I'm wondering if Transformers and G.I. Joe comics are canon?"
I was thinking about asking if they had an answer for what year Countdown took place but someone asked a really long, involved, boring question about how one of the Transformers in one of the pieces of artwork they showed didn't look quite right and how did they reconcile that and I just couldn't follow that person with a question like what year did the story take place in.
While answering some question they brought up working with Cryptic and how they got some visuals by working with them but they didn't mention anything about getting anything timeline or storyline wise from them.
Then someone asked if there was any news on other Star Trek comics coming out this year. The moderator said he doesn't edit those, only Countdown, so he doesn't know what's going on there. Totally useless.
I did get some Farscape comics and some books signed by KRAD so that part was fun.

The last comic ends on a cliff hanger which is resolved in the few minutes of the movie.
