What happened to Eureka?

Last I heard is was supposed to be back in January. I've not seen or heard anything lately. Is it canceled. Is it on hold? Is it in some time slot I cannot find?

I don't watch the show myself, but I quick check on TV Rage (who are normally right about these things) says that it's back on July 14th.

Yes, it is one of those short seasoned shows that Sci-Fi uses to get away from showing just reruns during the summer. Always has been.

^ Actually, this is their first 'full season' of 20 episodes. The previous 2 seasons were 13 each. I'm guessing that due to the increased episode order, Sci Fi decided to split it into 2 halves like Stargate and BSG.

If Sci-Fi Channel isn't careful, it's gonna kill another one of it's shows before it has something to replace it with.

Current Series: (Still Running)
Eureka - A show people tend to forget about when it's not on the air. (12 episodes left of season 3)

Sanctuary
- seems to be doing okay so far, but I wouldn't say it's a slam dunk just yet.

Future Series: (Fingers Crossed)
Stargate: Universe - is going to be fighting against the Stargate: Atlantis faithful who felt screwed over by the cancellation.

Warehouse 13
- I know next to nothing about save a picture with 2 people I'd never seen before and Saul Rubinek.

Caprica - They're really going to have to sell this story to the audience and soomehow connect it to the larger BSG mythology (Adama Family connection doesn't count) if they have any hope of it making past one season.

Did I forget one?

Management at SciFi seems to be in a perpetual state of panic. I feel cheated when a show that I like is set for 20 episodes, then they try to stretch it out with 8 one season and 12 the next. Maybe they are trying to decide what to do with the story line. The show is starting to lose direction.

Glad to hear that about Eureka. I just last month caught S1 on DVD and plan to get to S2 next month. I'm watching Dead Zone S1 right now.

My TV time is limited as it is. I only make time to watch broadcast airing of about 4-5 shows. Sci-Fi's decision to do this 10/10 split of its season totally turned me off of Battlestar at S2. Loved S1 and it was a show I made time for when it aired first run, not any more. Even dropped my cable(though not directly tied to that).
Now I'll catch up with it when the story is done...like I'm doing with Dead Zone. Which by the way is good thus far.

These exist?!

I mean, I liked Atlantis alright, but it really seemed a lot like they had run out of ideas and lost focus, and had started rehashing SG1 (there's only so much of doing that tongue-in-cheek that you can get away with), and I'm not crying about it going away. More like, I'm worried Universe will be more of the same. Or worse, the worst parts of that, combined with everything that was wrong with ST:Voyager.

^Yes they do exist.

I think it's caused by a knee-jerk reaction to dislike whatever supposedly "replaces" the something that people liked and (in their opinion) was doing just fine.

I remember hearing the same sorts of comments when Firefly promotions were first starting up at FOX and Dark Angel had just been canceled. Many people, one in particular that I'm remembering, said that he'd never watch Firefly because they canceled the much better Dark Angel (He said this having before Firefly had even aired.)

Of course, flash-forward to today and he's got the Firefly Boxset & the Serenity Special Edition sitting on his bookshelf with Dark Angel nowhere to be found.

Go Figure.

Dont' get me wrong, I watched Stargate: Atlantis, and enjoyed it for the most part, but I'm not mad that the creators and studio want to try something a bit different. I just hope they can pull it off and I hope that SGU ends up being more BSG than SGA.
