Captain
LeVar Burton directed 10 episodes of DS9, but never made an appearance as Geordi LaForge? Uhm, what the hell? With all the TNG crossovers and no Geordi? Anybody else upset by this?

Nope! Laforge would not have fitted in on DS9 even with just one frigging cameo. Besides didn't he do that with Birthright, part 1? You know actually eat on the station's Replimat and complain about that pasta dish (the one Worf loved)...

First off, that's an episode from TNG, I said DS9(the series, not the location), try to keep up...

Second off, are you implying that he wouldn't have gotten along with say, I don't know, say Worf and Chief O'Brien? His former co-stars on TNG....No, that would just be absolutely im-frigin-possible.

Jonathan Frakes directed three episodes of DS9, and the one he appeared in ('Defiant') was not one of 'em.

Michael Dorn directed an episode of ENT, but did not guest star in it.

Roxann Dawson directed ten episodes of ENT, but only did voicework in one of them.

Robert Picardo directed several episodes of VOY, but did not direct the episode of DS9 that he guest starred in.

Robert Duncan McNeill directed four episodes each for VOY & ENT, but didn't appear in any of the ENT episodes, thought there is a nice behind the scenes shot of him in his VOY costume next to Anthony Montgomery on the bridge set that was posted in the ENT forum awhile back.

Patrick Stewart and Gates McFadden both directed episodes of TNG, but not DS9, VOY or ENT!

To go back to your point, LeVar Burton directed nine episodes of ENT without appearin' in any of them and eight episodes of VOY while only appearin' in one of those ('Timeless'). And, honestly, while it was cool to see Captain La Forge in command of the Challenger, it really could have been any captain, and the scenes would have been the same. There wasn't anything specific to Geordi for those scenes to have been written & acted with Burton in mind for the role.

I'd much rather see a character in a role that matters in that episode than have 'em reprise the character just because they are on the set.

Nope, not upset. Can't picture him easily fitting into the story.

Okay, I never said that they had to make him a permanent member of the cast..I'm just saying a cameo here and there.

For instance; Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, and eventually, William Shatner(Generations) all made cameos on TNG and they were priceless moments. So, now you're saying that just one episode with La Forge hanging out with his bud Worf and former co-engineer O'Brien wouldn't have worked? Seriously, sometimes I wonder if we're all watching the same show....

McCoy wasn't just hangin' out. Spock wasn't just hangin' out. Scotty sort of just hung out, but still proved helpful. And Kirk helped save a civilization from bein' destroyed!

Can ya imagine the pitch meetin'?

"Geordi comes to DS9!" hopeful geek
"Okay...and then what?" Ira Steven Behr
"He just hangs out with Worf & Miles!" hopeful geek
"Okay..and then what?" ISB
"That's it! They just hang out & talk about the good times on the Enterprise!" hopeful geek
"Seriously!?" ISB
"YEAH! IT'LL BE THE MOST AWESOMEST EPISODE EVER!!!1!!uno! And LeVar Burton can even direct it!!!" hopeful geek

And its at that point that Behr would call security, who would actually be dressed in Bajoran Militia uniforms, to escort the geek out of the studio.

Ugh, I never said any of those characters were just "hanging out". Seriously, what's with you people that focus on one thing that is said and completely dismiss the rest?

1. "Hanging out" is a cliche or figure of speech where I'm from. Maybe you're from Mars or something and aren't familiar with the way we talk around here.

2. Your sarcasm points out the obvious fact that you indeed have no comeback to the fact that TOS members guest starred on TNG, and it worked. And TNG cameos would have been really cool too. And by cool, I don't mean "cold" as in "brr! I'm cold!" I mean, it would be interesting, you know...fun, unique, entertaining...to see on a television screen. You know the big box generally in one's livingroom that you use to view such things as tv shows and movies?

*EPIC FACE PALM*

And O'Brien, Bashir and LaForge would still get more character development in that one episode than Harry Kim got in seven seasons. :p

I'm not upset by it because I was invested in the characters and stories specific to DS9. I wanted to spend my time with those characters, not characters from another series.

If Geordie had made an appearance, I would have needed him to have a specific purpose, not do a cameo for the sake of a cross over episode.

I find it rather disappointing that the Enterprise never made an appearance outside the first episode. Picard is a passionate hobby archeologist, it would have made sense that he looks for some Bajoran artifact while the Enterprise is docked at the station for repairs or some other reason.

Did ya miss the episodes that featured TNG characters Vash, Q, the Duras sisters, and Lwaxana Troi?

Were those "cool" to you? Okay, maybe the first one with Troi, just 'cause she & Odo were "awesome" when they were "hangin' out" in the turbolift.

Also, you still have a tv shaped like a box? Thought they were, ya know, flatter these days...

It would have been fun to see Geordi visit DS9, but no...I am not upset by the missed opportunity.

Around here--where? :p

I don't see a reason to include characters from another show. If it makes sense for the story and is necessary, that's great. But for the sake of just having a character...because the actor is directing an episode, that's not reason enough for me.

Why don't you write a fanfic about it? I'd read it.

I'm sure TPTB were concerned that if Geordi appeared on the show viewers would confuse him with Sisko.

Nope. I am not even remotely 'upset' about this. Personally, the fewer TNG characters to make an appearance in DS9, the better.

Happy to have him direct. Don't wanna see his mug in DS9 episodes.

Erm...I REALLY hope that the vast majority of DS9 viewers were not of the racist 'all African Americans look alike' variety.

I'd certainly like to give 'em more credit than that.

Doesn't really bother me, not see Geordi in any episodes of DS9 - as there wasn't just the need for Chief Engineer.
