What elements of Trek XI would you consider BRILLIANT..?

I don't think the film is overly regarded as being 'brilliant' (even though I personally think the film as a whole was f*****g brilliant!), but there must be some elements that even the most critical viewer will regard as being 'brilliant'. It can range from a starship design to a specific scene... What of Trek XI would you consider to be utterly BRILLIANT..??

For me, so many things:

- Keenser..!
- The designs of the Delta Vega beasts..!
- The arrangements of Alexander Courage's original theme during the end credits..!
- The shot during the Kelvin where someone is sucked into space and there is no sound..!
- Keenser!
- The visualisation of the "learning centre" on Vulcan, with the children in those holes in the ground... Very beautiful design!
- Using the original '60's sound effects..!
- Keenser!

I thought Cross did his job well - especially his last scene with Spock was incredibly powerful given that Spock expected harsh censure from his father. I'd love to see more in future films.

That was probably my favourite Spock scene in the film.

It was brilliant. Cross was Sarek then.

I thought the ships going to warp was wonderfully crafted - a fanboy orgasm, really. The sudden bolt of sound and light that you could feel reverberating in your chest... I thought: this is Trek, this the kind of reverence for space travel and adventure that I came to see. It is very clear the director is NOT a trekkie, however, that came in handy, I think. We were badly in need of a fresh injection for the common layperson. What is clear is he tried very hard to "get" Trek, and succeeded. Very happy audience member here.

To merely look cooler for the trailer? I think they used a snip as he was materialising. Maybe he was so emotional about the imminent destruction of his home, that he had to kneel? Whatever, it was ridiculous, and didn't work so well, rationally speaking, but it certainly looked kickass.

Loved the window/view screen, if for no other reason then the external shots looking in. All the external shots were fantastic, giving us more detail and interior views. Nice.

Liked the alien beasts too, definitely want more of those.

The fat headed alien punter at the bar. Excellent skin texture.

Orbital sky dive, been waiting to see this since the Generations scene was cut.

I didn't expect to like the replacement of Spock, but Zachary Quinto is an astonishingly good actor, the detail of his work is mind-blowing. Just Wow.

That was probably my favourite Spock scene in the film.

I quite liked that as well, a new side of Sarek considering whats came before but an understandable one witht he context of the scene.

It actually made me wonder if Spock had started his relationship out of logic as he was living with humans but with that revelation would now submit to the idea of being able to feel something more.

The casting was genius, it's hard to find replacements for iconic pop culture actors/characters but it all worked really well. The warp effect is the best it's been (Zap! She's gone) and some of the aliens (notably the one at the bar) were nice to see.

Though the Arex-like alien on the Kelvin reminded me too much of Thor from Stargate. Just the movements.

To me, the realisticness of the characters (down to earth) and scenarios (real battles instead of scripted chess games) really made the movie for me. That, and the Kelvin sequence. Utterly brilliant.

That scene was just brilliant. Quinto sold that so well--the icy calm never came down, yet the utter desolation beneath was terrific.
