What Don't You Like About "Batman and Robin"

Seems like we've recently had threads dedicated to all of the previous batch of Batman movies.

Now it's time for... THE ONE.

We've all heard it, we've all said it, we all know it. But it's still sorta fun to say it, read it and talk about it.

So let's go.

Let the rain of SUCK begin.

It might be easier to list what I like about it. Can't think of anything right now though.

Number one problem? That slut Batgirl showed up and tried to break up Batman and his boybitch Robin.

Bracket that in "yt" and "/yt" on either side of the link and it'll show up in post.

Thanks...I had no idea how to do that and couldn't find the thread on it anywhere! :techman:

NP. It only works on YouTube videos and you don't have to use the "inline url" option they give you on the video's homepage. Just use the link itself and the board figures the rest out.

Same here. I could write essays on what's wrong with the damn movie, but I'm stumped as to what's right with it.

What really irks me is the score. Did Elliot Goldenthal write any new music for this film, or did they just take all the material he wrote for Forever and plug it in where it seemed like a good fit? I enjoyed his score for Forever, and a lot of times even if a film sucked, it'll still have good original music. This one had okay reheated leftover music.

Why would Poison Ivy team up with a guy who wants to freeze the world? That wouldn't be good for plants!

1. The suits suck. Too rubbery and colorful.
2. Gotham has devolved from a dark, crumbling city fighting a losing war against crime to a cartoonish joke of a place in which crime happens more for laughs than for its seriousness.
3. The Robin character isn't very much of an interesting character. Neither is the Batman character in this version.
4. However, I thought the storyline about Alfred getting sick and the plight of Mr. Freeze were emotional. But those were the only things I liked about this movie.

Heaping helpings of stupity, bad acting and terrible lines.

"I hate it when people talk during da moovie."

Who's this nutball?" (Apparently, that Gotham astronomer never watches the news, or supervillains are so common no one cares anymore.)

BANE!!! RAARGH! We need some one to fight hand to hand! (RIP Jeep Swenson)

You know they left a hanging mystery, who was Bane's mystery bidder than Dr. Woodrue mentioned.

Bruce and Dick gave us the wonder of the Bat Nipples! but Alicia Silverstone had no nipples on her suit
This.

Why only male nipples? If you're going to fetishize the Batsuits, Schumacher, at least give heterosexual guys something too.

Gotham was a trifle cartoonish in the Burton films too, and leaned more towards Burtonesque black humour than any undue seriousness.

But yes, nowhere near as fun, stylish or cool as Batman Returns.

I agree with those who've said it would be easier to list the things that I do like about Batman & Robin.

Um....

...I like Michael Gough in it. And I like Clooney in his scenes with Michael Gough. And, um...

...honest to gosh, I think that's it. :wtf:

I think Clooney could have done a good job had the story not been so campy. I mean, he basically is Bruce Wayne in real life and I think he can pull off serious and brooding when acting as Batman.
