What do you think happened to Andrus Hagan?

In "Night Terrors" the Betazoid man found on board USS Brattain was in pretty bad condition, what do you think happened after the ships were released from the rift? I'd imagine since the telepathic message from the alien ship would stop transmitting to him and he could sleep again, he would return to normal... What do you think?

Some intense therapy would also help, but I don't see why he wouldn't be able to return to a normal life.

Our regular heroes recover from extreme mental abuse easily enough. We could attribute that to their sheer heroic stamina, or to advanced 24th century / alien forms of therapy, or both. But Hagen would be okay if we choose the middle option; less so in the other two cases.
