What do you think are your favourite moments

Hm, every movie has some good ones, even the ones I don't like. But the big moments/scenes that I can remember off the top of my head that I just love:

TVH: The exchange between Spock and his mother, the follow-up with Sarek at the end, and Spock's "attempting the hell to communicate". Or really, damn near anything with Spock in it from that movie.

TUC: Kirk and Bones' discussion in bed in Rura Penthe and Kirk and Spock's discussion in Spock's quarters. They're both wonderful pieces for the Kirk character and fun to watch.

FC: Picard quietly quoting Moby Dick in the conference room scene with Lily. That was very powerful, I thought.

XI: "I married her because I loved her" and "You got it!" and the ensuing firing upon the Narada. A very satisfying righteous beatdown.

TMP: Reveal of the refit 1701, Kirk and Decker facing off.
TWOK: The 1701 rising up behind Reliant, looking pissed off, Spock's funeral
STIII: Stealing the Enterprise, DeForest's performance as McCoy-Spock.
STIV: Reveal of the 1701-A. DeForest and Nimoy again.
STV: The campfire scene and the moonlight 1701-A
STVI: Kirk's final log entry, Spock and Kirk's opening tiff at Starfleet HQ

Off the top of my head and in no particular order:

Kirk's reaction to Spock's arrival on the bridge in TMP.
Kirk takes hold of Spock's hand in sickbay
"Not in front of the Klingons" from Trek V
Kirk's arrival on the bridge at the end of the Kobyasi Maru test in TWOK

A few to be going on with.

The two that come clearest to my mind so far involve Sulu, oddly enough:

-TUC-
Sulu: C'mon, c'mon!
Helm: She'll fly apart!
Sulu: FLY HER APART THEN!!!

-XI-
Spock is about to get blown up real good by the Narada when... the Enterprise warps in and phasers all those missiles goodbye, thanks to Sulu! There were so many cheers in the theater, you couldn't believe it.

which moments in all the Trek movies do you like and why

I would have to say my favorite moment, was the scene where General Chang's ship is caught between the crossfire of Enterprise and Excelsior, and is just getting beaten to hell... the way that sequence was executed was just awesome.

From IV: The scene where Spock teaches that little twerp playing loud music a lesson . God that one is just classic.

From TWOK (might be a bit off -- been awhile):

Kirk: "Khan"
Khan: "Yes?"
Kirk: "Here it comes." (Nods to Saavik to initiate the code sequence.)

From TUC:

(Guided torpedo is fired, and starts actively "seeking" the BOP.)

Chang: "To be (pause, turning head)... or not... to be"

(Christopher Plummer's delivery was spot on, with the slight turn of the head, everything. Just the fatal realization that he'd lost.)

Cheers,
-CM-

I've gotta say, the bit where Chekov is onboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Enterprise, and is suspected of being a communist, or where Chekov and Uhura ask the policeman directions - and he just looks at them.

TMP- Scotty shows Kirk the enterprise/going to warp
TWOK-When the enterprise comes behind the reliant and fires/spocks death/funeral
TSFS-Stealing the enterprise/"the word is no...i am therefore going anyway"
TVH-"well...a double dumbass on you!" "Youre not exactly catching us at our best"/LDS/NCC-1701-A
TFF-campfire scenes
TUC-praxis blowing up/capt sulu/"fire"
GEN-Saucer crash/picards family album/seeing the D on the big screen
FC-"ramming speed!"and borg battle/"captain ahab has to go hunt his whale"
INS-the riker maneuver(sans the joystick) Geordi's real eyes
NEM-riker troi married/enterprise vs. scimatar battle
STXI-Seeing the enterprise/ how kirk beats the Kobayashi Maru/karl urbans perfect mccoy

According to Shatner's book all those scenes where Chekov and Uhura are searching for "Nuclear Wessels" was totally unscripted and improvised.

oooh, got another one. From FC, when the Phoenix is about to take off, Cochrane frantically but successfully blasts off to Steppenwolf.

TWOK: Spock's death in engineering and funeral.
TVH: The vulcan nerve pinch on the bus's punk and the reveal of Ent-A
FC: Data turning off the emotion chip, Worf saying "I'm a Klingon" to Lili and Picard saying "Plenty of letters left in the alphabet".

Just thought of another one (geeze, I think I'll make up half this thread some day):

Generations: Kirk talking to Picard about captaincy, particularly about doing whatever it takes to remain captain of the Enterprise. All this on horseback.

Then the moment ends when Picard tells Kirk to join him against Soran. What a buzzkill, that Picard.

Anyway, Shatner makes the scene work. Sure, he's got a legendary ego and he's one of the oddest men in showbiz. But his delivery was just so sincere and wise and full of heart that it really did feel like a passing-of-the-torch scene.

STXI-Seeing the enterprise/ how kirk beats the Kobayashi Maru/karl urbans perfect mccoy
That was one of my least favourite parts. I like to think the prime universe Kirk wasn't so cocky and irritating about it.

Given that I could go on for paragraphs describing my favourite scenes, I thought I would make it hard for myself and limit myself to the ONE scene that really 'makes' the movie for me.

The Motion Picture: The Meld - the whole scene is magnificent, but when V'Ger explodes/ascends/evolves and the music winds down and the Enterprise slowly emerges, and the ST theme winds up again. In my mind, the movie is basically saying "THIS. IS. STAR TREK."

The Wrath of Khan: Spock's Funeral - Kirk says: "Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels....his was the most.....human." And then the torpedo slowly rolls out, with Scotty playing Amazing Grace. It's so powerful to this day - and then when the torpedo fires and the they switch to the sweeping orchestral music. My god - great stuff.

The Search for Spock: Stealing the Enterprise - now, I am not a big fan of this movie, but this scene is probably the best 8 minutes of cinema Star Trek ever.

The Voyage Home: There are many great scenes, but for me, it's McCoy right after Kirk decided to do go back in time. "What you're suggesting is we travel backwards in time to capture whales, move forwards in time, drop 'em off and hope the hell this probe knows what to go do with itself." Kirk: "That's the general idea" McCoy: "That's crazy!" Kirk: "You got a better idea now's the time."
I love this interchange because very early in the movie, it seems that the filmmakers and actors knew this movie was going to be ridiculous - so they state that is IS indeed crazy, and now well, we can't argue with them can we??

The Final Frontier: Kirk's tirade upon refusing Sybok's exploration of his pain. "I DON'T WANT MY PAIN TAKEN AWAY I NEED MY PAIN". This entire scene is excellent, especially the sequence with McCoy euthanising his father. TFF should've had more of this and less God creature shooting lightning.

The Undiscovered Country: Sulu - "Target that explosion and FIRE." Takei's delivery makes this one of the most badass lines in all of Star Trek. Move over Captain Robau!

Generations: Picard's Christmas in the Nexus. It's really quite moving to see Picard together with a family, and when he hugs Rene, I have great difficulty not crying.

First Contact: The first contact meeting between Cochrane and the Vulcans. "Live Long and Prosper". Cochrane: "Thanks." For me the first contact storyline IS what First Contact is about. The Borg I can take or leave in that movie.

Insurrection: Geordie watching the sun rise with his natural eyes restored. This movie is very underrated and for me, and is strengthened by poignant little moments like this.

Nemesis: Well....this movie sucks, but at least it has an awesome space battle right??? The Enterprise ramming the Scimitar is pretty cool.

Star Trek 2009: The entire prologue sequence involving the Kelvin, specifically George Kirk slamming the Kelvin into the Narada whilst saying goodbye to his wife and son. It's quite emotionally gripping and sets up the rest of the film superbly.

I have a few. Most of TMP but specifically the inspection tour of the Enterprise, The walk to engineering "Engineering to all decks, auxillary power test in 3 minutes...." The wingwalk.

TWOK: As the new soundtrack release describes it: The Enterprise blowing in the wind after the first attack.

TSFS: Stealing the Enterprise.

TFF: The Klingon Bird of Prey arising up from behind a cliff behind Kirk and his beam up.

TUC: The final battle.

Gen: Scotty's "Aye," in response to Chekov's query about anyone being in that room and the pull back.

NEM: Scientifically riddled with problems but I liked the ramming sequence.

STXI-Seeing the enterprise/ how kirk beats the Kobayashi Maru/karl urbans perfect mccoy
That was one of my least favourite parts. I like to think the prime universe Kirk wasn't so cocky and irritating about it.

You know, I never thought of it that way, but I think you're right. I guess Kirk was destined to beat the Kobayashi Maru, but the way he beat it in this movie is different from how he would have if he'd grown up with a father. You can attribute a lot of his cocky behaviour and differences in his personality from that of the original Kirk to the fact that he didn't.

Oddly enough, the moment that sticks out in my mind in TMP is the RED ALERT sequence leading up the the first V'ger attack. It's a tense dramatic scene with character conflict that advances the plot and has all the characters engaged in providing bits of information. If more of the film was like that scene, it'd be a far better movie.
