So there are so many generations of star trek fans that have their own idea of what they want to be called. Thought I'd see what people think here

In my experience, there are Star Trek fans who are somewhat casual, Trekkies - who are a bit more serious and possibly even Trek lifestyle oriented - and then Trekkers, who are Trekkies who want to put on airs like they're better than "mere" Trekkies or casual fans. I guess there's other names, but they're mostly people doing their own thing without any real connection with established fandom? Which is perfectly fine. :)

I personally identify as a Trekkie, a Whovian, and with a whole host of other fandoms, too.

I didn't want to upset anyone. I thought this would be fun to hear what people say. Figured everyone that read it would get a laugh and the ones that actually wondered could look at the poll

I didn't think I was a major fan, but then it dawned on me that I watch at least one episode a day and pour over memory alpha in my free time. I guess one of those labels in the poll may apply!

I suppose I could fall under Trekkie or Trekker depending on where you draw the line for level of connectedness with reality between the two and whether you're sensitive about the distinction.

I just think the whole thing is silly that some people want to be identified as a group for enjoying Star Trek, but some of THEM don't want their group to be associated with the extreme stereotypical end of Star Trek fandom, so they have to come up with an entire other group which separates themselves from other parts of the Star Trek fanbase.

It's like "We're not the Star Trek People's Front, we're the People's Front of Star Trek!!"

I enjoy Star Trek. But don't spend much coinage in the pursuit of it these past 15-20 years or so. I was bigger into it during the nineties when I took the trouble to go to conventions and buy the stuff. These days I watch a few episodes and films now and then via streaming. So whatever category that puts me into. .

I just stick to Mark, or Spot in here.

I love ST, but I dont feel the need to define myself by that, any more than I call myself a chocolate cakie or a coffeeist

Are options 3 through 5 actually known to be used by anyone?
I've heard "Trek" a few times, in the context of the Star Trek/Star Wars rivalry. "I'm Trek, not Wars" or "I'm Trek *and* Wars". I generally considered it as a statement of preference, not identity, but I can see how it *could* be taken as a label.

^ Ah...I see that one now. 3 is an understandable enough turn of phrase, though I haven't known it to be commonly used. 5 is throwing me.

I thought I'd add it in since kids these days want to put words together to create new ones... Didn't think anyone would actually choose it, lol
