What class ship is this?

Sorry, I must have skipped that rule. I allowed myself that because I know the same can be said to me. A smiley can wink and other things, but nothing can restore tone to the written word.

I meant no harm, brian. What I did was give myself a good laugh for being mischievous. :p  ;)

Well I've had my humor misunderstood around here too hard as that is to believe! ;)

You reassure me, kimc.
I read the rules (there is so much more there than the few lines one agrees to upon registering) and I confess there was more than one thing that was good for me to find out. I recommend reading that page to anyone who hasn't yet.

However, I have never heard it suggested in a Trek reference work that the bridge of the TNG hero ship would be an interchangeable module, let alone a separable one. And the design doesn't really lend itself to that.

The main bridge, no. But the Battle Bridge of the E-D changed entirely between its' S1 appearances and Best of Both Worlds (in RL, of course, this was because the set had been redressed to death in the intervening years, and it was no longer possible - or at least practicable within time & budget - to recreate what had been a barely-dressed refit Enterprise bridge originally).

Yet this complete makeover didn't alter the dimensions or doorway placements of the room. A changed interior need not mean the entire room is a plug-and-pray module. Especially when the interiors of Trek bridges tend to be constructed out of sectors (to facilitate wild-wall photography) that could quite plausibly be swapped by dockyard crews one by one.

But yes, the Battle Bridge could probably be a module more plausibly than the Main Bridge, in terms of shape and placement.
