What characters do you want to see?

Personally, I'm hoping for a "core" cast of three to five (CO, XO, and 1-3 of CMO, ChEng, ChSec or ChOps/COB) and then a recurring cast of five to fifteen characters that get some development, maybe a "Day in the Limelight" if the series runs long enough and it makes sense.

Sea Patrol for instance does the job resonably well IMO, they had three officers during s1-3 (CO, XO and Navigator), two in s4 (CO & XO) and three in s5 (CO, XO & Midshipman), 2 CPOs (ChEng + Medic) and PO (PO1 in USN usage, similar to CC/CSC/CMC in role) and three or four ratings (two Leading Seaman (Corporal, 1 Comms + 1 Engineer), an Able Seaman (equiv but junior to LCpl) replaced by a Recruit later promoted to Seaman (PVT to PFC in the US) (cook/medic) which allows for a variety of different storylines.

Does anybody else have any thoughts?

The season is short, so I hope there will be a relative small core cast. There is just not enough time to give many characters real depth.

I want to see an Andorian, Enterprise Andorians actually. Maybe the ocasional Monchezke (alien from Kelvin Timeline). One was on the Kelvin just prior to the Nerada incursion so they must be around.

I agree, however I think to avoid accusions of "The Wesley" I think it would be best if we split the "teen appeal" among several recurring characters rather than a single principal one. That said, I wouldn't having a character like the Transporter Chief (a PO or Chief, not a Lieutenant), the cook or the bartender (regardless of whether you like Neelix, Guinan or Quark, those parts of their roles generally worked.
