What are YOU making for the big game?

With the Super Bowl, the biggest audience-related event of the year, it's time to ignore football and crowd around the TV for commercials.

With such an event comes ... FOOD!

What are you having and/or eating for the Super Bowl party?

I'm taking a taco dip over to my friend's house, where he's been smoking a pork butt and chicken wings all day. Friends are sure to bring other delicacies, as well.

What's on your docket?

I'll be eating nothing, as it'll be gone 11.30pm over here when it starts and I don't like to eat at such a late hour if I haven't been on the booze. However, coffee is on the agenda.

Chicken wings with a Parmesan-Garlic sauce from BW3. :techman:

While Buffalo Wild Wings' Spicy Garlic sauce is beyond any superlative known to man, the Parmesan Garlic sauce smells like eau de ass.

This year I'm actually interested in the Super Bowl as my team is in it.

We're going down to my brothers, for a big spaghetti feed before the game. He uses sausage in the sauce which gives it a nice kick.

GO STEELERS!!!

I'm not going to work tomorrow so I'll probably stay up and watch the game (it starts pretty late our timezone).

I think I might go really contrary on the foodstuff thing though. I'll try to perfect my recipe for Ile Flottante. :p

I'm not at work either tomorrow. :D (I was hoping to come in and work in order to make up for leave planned later this month, but it's a bit short notice and hey, I'll get over it...) I'll be watching too. It'll be the second ever Gridiron game I've seen (the first was SuperBowl XLI 2 years ago). :bolian:

No idea re: munchies. I'll raid the freezer and see what's still edible.

I actually went and looked that up. You're a braver man than I am Holdfast.

It doesn't seem like it would go well with beer though, which is probably why it's not on my list for today.

You know, I've found a wonderful non-alcoholic beer called Clausthaler -- the amber version of it tastes like very, very good dark beer, but without the alcohol content. For someone like me, it works out great with party food. :techman:

It's got to be better than the crap I've been drinking. I'll have to look around for it.

Beer? No.

Rum? Yes. :D

I walked the walk...

Obviously, presentation still needs working on a lot (in particular, making the islands look less like icebergs!), but the taste is improving rapidly with each attempt. This is the second time I've made it this week. I used less sugar this time which made for nicer meringues. And I managed to make the creme anglaise without the egg yolks scrambling like they did the first time; today it came out really rich and tasty! I was too lazy to make the caramel syrup, but sprinkled some nutmeg on instead, which worked well. I still need to work on timing the poaching of the meringues a bit better, but hey, I'm making progress.

Now, back to the manly activity of watching the game... ;)
