What are you grateful for today?

It is so easy to moan and complain about the things that make us unhappy, and it's not very often we have a chance to mention the things we are grateful for on the tbbs... so list the things you appreciate here, and maybe you'll feel better than you did before you made the list. :D

Myself, I am grateful to have a roof over my head, electricity, clean running water, and the worldwide web. :D I remember a time when I didn't have many of these things.

I'll probably pass through again to add some more. In the meantime, feel free to take part.

I'm grateful for my health, the health of my loved ones, and the endless opportunities before me.

^ Really? :wtf:
If I hadn't, I'd be miserable in a crappy job, and not working toward a new degree...oh yeah and I wouldn't even be engaged to be married. My losing that job allowed my now fiancee take note of me when I had appoinments on campus before starting school and ended up going out with her and fell in love widly.

I am grateful for my family, my sisters, my parents. You never know when they'll be gone for good.

My family and loved ones. They get me through a lot of tough times I wouldnt be able to get through otherwise.

I woke up today. That's always a grateful thing.

Losing my job last year

I hear ya. I got laid off in February and I was pissed off at first, not that I was laid off, but because of the company. I was one of the most valuable workers who had a job title and worked harder than anyone, literally, and the company based their first group of lay offs on HR reasons. I was in Inventory Control as an operations specialist who worked 7AM-330AM, a friggin dream shift, and my husband worked in shipping (he is still there) as a co-ordinator who's shift was 3PM-whenever they finished so the fact that we were together (it's common law, by the way) seemed to be enough for the company to get rid of one of us, even though we never interacted and we worked in different departments. I was there for 6 years, he in his 14th year so I was their choice. They started putting people to work at the desk who had only been working their for about a year while the rest of us had to work our asses off for years to get there and the people they put at the desks didn't even have job titles. They just pulled random people. Only specialists are suppose to be working at the desks.

Being laid off itself was great because the company doesn't give a shit about anyone. They make us work on Christmas and weekends and it's never voluntary. They threaten to write you up if you don't show up, no matter what excuse you have.

We also had meetings once a month and when the recession was kicking in, they assured us that no full timers would be touched and that they would go from temps to contracts and then to part timers, if they needed to go further. My group was the first to get laid off and all of us were full timers who had been there for years. They still kept contracts and part timers and even a few temps. It was ridicuous.

Thinking about that makes me glad I got laid off because that place doesn't care about you or your life. They just care about the company. They can kiss my ass.

I'm grateful to be back in school, and I'm grateful that I have a job. I'm grateful for my friends and family, and for my cat and my roommates. I'm grateful that I have food, clothing, water, shelter, and access to good books.

Great idea for a thread! It's nice to count our blessings.

I'm grateful that none of the crazy tourists in my hometown have managed to run me over yet.

I am grateful for:
The surgeon who fixed my back and allowed me to walk again
My husband who I love more each day
My friends who give me comfort
My father who is no longer with us but whose memory I cherish
My education

Those things come to mind first.

I'm grateful for leaving my job earlier in the year, my new job is far superior and the people are lovely. I'm also grateful for my friends, I don't have many, but they're bloody good.

I am grateful for having the gift of patience and siblings who support me no matter what the costs. I am also grateful for the universe giving me a second chance.

I'm currently on holiday in Canada. And I'm grateful for my friend and family for having me over for three weeks :). I had a great time, and will definetly be coming back! :)
