What are the "must-see" films for the rest of 2009?

Bad Bishop

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Besides Sherlock Holmes (starring Robert Downey, Jr.), what else is should be on our lists?

I actually forgot about Avatar when I started the thread. I saw the 20-minute presentation for the film at Comic-Con and agree that it should be on everyone's list.

2012 will probably receive lousy reviews, just because film critics can't bring themselves to ever give Roland Emmerich a break. Well, I don't care. I'm ready for at least one more of his SF epics this year, especially since it features Amanda Peet.

2012 looks too depressing, like Knowing. Dammit, my life is depressing enough as is.

Sherlock Holmes looks kickass, particularly Jude Law's portrayal of Dr. Watson. It looks like, after a century, we'll finally get a big screen Sherlock Holmes movie to get Watson right.

I'm so so about the premise of Avatar but the fact that it's James Cameron is selling enough for me. After Aliens & The Terminator, I'd follow him barefoot into hell.

Beyond that, the only other one I'm really interested in is the American DVD release of Lesbian Vampire Killers.

There is nothing that stands out for me. I was looking forward to Avatar... but have not been impressed with what I have seen so far. I will probably go check out 2012 to see stuff being destroyed.

Sherlock Holmes, The Road and The Lovely Bones are "must-sees" for me.

Avatar and 2012 are films I'm gradually warming up to, but not dying to see.

Where the Wild Things Are.

If you disagree, you have no soul.

The Princess and the Frog

And ever-so-slightly less-so, Sherlock Holmes.

Interested but not anticipated: 2012, Avatar

My must-see list: Where the Wild Things Are; The Road; An Education. Those are the ones I'm most looking forward to (though An Education probably won't play in my town.) Sherlock Holmes could be fun. And even though I can't stand Hilary Swank, I hope Amelia is good.

Not really sure what's coming out but Avatar is not on my list. I saw the promo and was so disappointed by it (Expectations were too high I guess) that I don't have an interest to see it. What I do have an interest in include:

-the new one with Scorsese and Leo DiCaprio
-Princess and the Frog (First hyped up Disney 2D animated film in a while)
-Where the Wild Things Are
-Sherlock Holmes

I'm really looking forward to John Woo's Red Cliff, even if it's going to be a bastardized three-hour version instead of the original four hour version they got in China (split across two movies).

Just found out Shutter Island was delayed until next February. That sucks since I thought that was going to be some Oscar bait. Guess not. Scratch that one off the list.

I forgot about The Road. That one looks interesting.

Where the Wild Things Are is kinda creeping me out. While these characters look great as illustrations in a book, seeing them rendered into live action doesn't feel right. Plus, I've often found that these short children's picture books don't make good feature films. SEE: The Cat in the Hat, The Grinch, Jumanji.

-Princess and the Frog (First hyped up Disney 2D animated film in a while)

True dat. When was their last one? The last original one I can recall was The Emperor's New Groove about 9 years ago. Everything else has been sequels like The Jungle Book 2, Piglet's Big Movie, The Tigger Movie, & Return to Neverland.

Moon doesn't come out here in Australia until this coming weekend. That's definitely on my must see list. Also possibly....

Avatar, The Road, The Lovely Bones

Mr. Nobody (if it actually gets a release date here this year)

Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus is a maybe. Was looking forward to it, but the early reviews aren't that encouraging.
