What advertising have you seen so far?

I'm surprised there was no Star Trek clip at the end of the Oscars when they previewed movies coming in 2009.

Aside from the multicolored teaser posters in theaters right now, I haven't seen one official one for the actual release.

How far in advance do the final marquee posters typically show up in theater lobbies -- two weeks before release date? Three? A month, for something getting a major push?

Well, It should be a little more than a month I hope, as here in Taiwan I see most movie adverts on the sides of buses. If I don't see them by early April that may mean I will have to wait past May 8th...as I don't know when it's supposed to be released here.

Should open in Taiwan May ninth, according to this.

it depends on the film.
i have seen some stuff go up six months in advance and then others about three weeks out.

but i think their spending money for the superbowl ad and the movie so far away was a vote of confidence.

Eric Bana appeared in another big pictorial feature in a Sydney-based Sunday newspaper magazine article today, about his forthcoming car documentary, (such as mentioned in this older article at http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/20/eric-bana-filming-documentary-about-his-car/ ), and ST XI was mentioned.

Tonight, he's just been a guest on TV's "Rove" chat show, again talking about the doco. He compared a passion for cars to the passions others have for any number of hobbies, sport, etc. (I think he was about to compare it to Star Trek fans' passion for ST.) The last question from the host was, "Why so angry?" - and up came a huge b/w slide of Nero's face on a wall-sized monitor! Eric went on to say that the anger was a clever combination of makeup, prosthetics, acting and the tattoo.

Great coverage for ST XI.
