Well, my twins have arrived...

I'm very glad they arrived healthily, and that your wife is doing well, too. :) I really envy you, my friend- I've always had a little dream about twin boys . I wish you all well!

So what were the Apgars? Nobody ever tells us the Apgars.

I was so high on medication after my first caesarian that I don't remember the Apgar tests happening. I mentioned it to my husband after a day or two that I wondered why they hadn't done it, since it always happens on TV. He just stared at me for a moment and then said "they did do it, right there in the room."
They do them on TV? Like on Grey's Anatomy or something?

Now that you ask, I haven't got a clue. I've never watched Grey's - but my knowledge of it must have come from TV - maybe ER or Chicago Hope, or people just talking about it afterwards or something...

Interesting. I always thought it was one of those arcane things that only people in the biz know about.

Congrats also for not naming them Avon and Vila.
He could have got away with calling one Blake.

My friend wanted Ben and Luke...

Tiring night. Wife has only had a couple of hours sleep out of sixty. I stayed at hospital last night and it was crazy.

What are Apgars? It's probably something we have here but under a different name (like Gutheries).

Apgars are a newborn assessment score used to determine and record the condition of the baby. They're usually given at one and five minutes, sometimes at ten as well. The best possible score is a 10, but you're more likely to see 9 most of the time. In the medical record it will say something like "Apgars 9 and 9." A baby with a 10-10 Apgar score is probably singing and dancing at the end of his cord. :rommie:

And I'm pretty sure they use Apgars in Middle Earth. :D

^^ That was the easy part. The hard part was getting through to the Medical Records Department to find out the Apgar scores.
