We might get an extra hour of Lost this season.

According to one of my 815 snitches, Team Darlton is in advanced talks with ABC to produce — wait for it, wait for it — an additional hour of Lost this season!

[The crowd roars]

Now, before you go French-kissing a total stranger out of sheer elation, my source stresses that this is by no means a done deal. In fact, the scheduling hurdles alone are enough to make a grown man cry. But you have to admit, the prospect of a 14th hour is a tantalizing one. And it raises so darn many questions. For instance:

• If the dream becomes a reality, how would it work? As it stands, Lost's Season 4 climax is slated to air on May 22 on a season-finale-themed night that also includes the cappers of Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy. So would the additional Lost hour be broadcast the following Thursday? Or would it perhaps run on another night?

• What does this do to the finale that was going to air on May 22? Would elements of it be incorporated into the new finale? Would this 14th hour come before that episode? And since we were originally supposed to get 16 eppies this season before the strike cut that number back to 13, does this mean we would now be getting a season finale that is more in line with what Darlton intended? Or more exposition that they ran out of time to include? The mind boggles.
Great news if true! Almost gives us that full season minus the filler. Hopefully. :techman:

Yeah, I posted this in the spoiler thread.

Come to think of it, I don't know why I did that...must've been a hurry and wasn't thinking straight...

Wow, this is the second time tonight I've seen something about another hour. Woot - we're gonna get TWO extra hours?!?!

I don't like spoilers so I don't look into that thread.

I really hope this rumour is true.

The new episode will show Jin being recruited off the island by both Wolfram and Hart and the Starfleet MACOS, and the cliffhanger will be him having to choose.

You forget that the Excalibur wants him back to finish looking for the cure to the Drahk plague.......;)

I thought 13 was a nice episode number. I'm worried that if they get one more episode then it will be too late and the writers will only make it a filler episode sticking it right before the finale which would suck.

^ Well the short-season cable TV series (Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck, Damages, Burn Notice, etc.) are all 13 episodes long.

It's been confirmed.

We're getting a three-hour long finale, with the first part airing May 15 and the second and third hours airing two weeks later on the 29th. Sucks we have to wait two weeks between episodes--because of the Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy finales--but sounds like it'll be worth it in the end. The idea for an extra hour came out of the fact that the script for the final episode was just way too long, with Lindeloft and Cuse not wanting to cut enough out to bring it to an hour.

Awesome news about the extra, but terrible news about the extra wait.

Stupid Grey's Anatomy and Ugly Betty! :scream: :censored:

Yeah, although it sounds like Grey's had to do a bit of rescheduling to fit around Lost, so this is probably the only way to get in that extra hour. It's also quite telling that ABC is willing to bump the finale out of sweeps time. That extra hour really must've been pushed hard.

So the extra hour is going to go into the season finale? Great news. If they are adding another hour because it was really needed for the finale then my fears of filler are gone.

They needed an extra hour, we're getting an hour and it'll be part of a two-hour finale. We're even back up to the 14 episodes I had hoped for. That's great news and a nice little bonus.

^ I doubt it. ABC would be pissed if the finale was leaked online before it even aired in the US.
