Watching Heroes on Netflix

Ok, I passed on the show early on because I couldn't keep up. Now I'm trying to do a binge, currently early in season 2.

Questions:

With the regenerative mutants (for lack of a better term), why not take their heads off like in Highlander?

If you did lop off their heads, would the body grow a new head, or would the head grow a new body?

How did Peter survive the explosion?

Why didn't Claire's hair burn off when the nuclear guy went postal in the house in Texas?

Did anyone else laugh out loud when Hiro flashed the Vulcan salute and said, "I come in peace"?

Why didn't anyone think of burning Sylar to a crisp, or transporting him to another time, or chopping him up in little pieces, when he was "dead"?

Peter has Claire's powers.

They were but Heroes is a network TV show and they were goingto show her nude.

They couldn't find him, Hiro was in the past, PEter in Ireland, Claire and Noah moved to Calif. and Matt was recovering from being shot.
