Was The Vulcan Female... (spoilers)

Hmmm...interesting thought. It could be that T'Pau was one of the Vulcans to be saved, and due to the near-extinction of the Vulcans, they offer her a seat on the Federation Council as consolation, which she promptly turns down.

And, that, my friends has just repaired some of the canon. THANK YOU!

So, I'm looking at the book, and it simply says six Elders were in the cave, in addition to Amanda.

"Six sets of hands rested on the katric ark."

They were linked together by mind meld, and Sarek was one of them. It says they removed the ark from its pedestal and took it with them. Seven figures materialized on the transporter pads, including Spock. Unless I'm reading this wrong, all of them made it in the book, except Amanda. How many appeared on the transporter pads in the movie?

Oh, and the reason that Spock knelt down on the pad before transporting was that the ground was shaking and heaving, and that position increased stability.

I also thought "TPau" right away, as the hairstyle, as had been said before, is very much similar to her hairstyle in "Amok time". Well, is he has some lines in the next movie and her lines include "thee" and "thy", you'll know it's her ;-)

With Vulcan gone, and the refugees in need of every advantage possible to survive, she'd probably take it, this time.

I didn't catch that at all. I will have to watch for it next time, it makes sense that she could be T'Pau.

I was wondering what they were doing there. If they were in a sort of group mind meld, was this in some way preparing for their deaths? Were they even aware that the planet was being destroyed? If they were the Elders of the planet who were able to preserve the culture, why were Sarek and Amanda with them? Sarek is more of a political figure and Amanda isn't even Vulcan.

^ Sarek and T'Pau are related, aren't they? I thought they were cousins or something. I definitely remember "Amok Time" saying that they were somehow related.
