Was he weighing the notion of a picnic in Asgard against Rose turning into a Fishwife from East Enders bellowing with a raised skillet in on hand that he can't go to the pub for a lark with his mates?

Virtually guaranteed I'd say. RTD was very clever in creating the Metacrisis Doctor, meaning Tennant is guaranteed a return at any future point for as long as he lives, without any need for a "this is why he looks older" explantory technobabble line. He'll be back.

Imagine that Rose and Cloctor give it a go, but it all goes to hell and dissolves into poop, because she really hasn't got the original out of her system whatsoever, so she crosses back to the regular universe with hope to make that Timelord into her timebitch...

But he's changed.

Doesn't look like the man, "men" she fell in love with or act like them, infact... He's just a bit too young for her, it would be embarrassing to turn up on the estate with him in hand that she'd be called some sort of cradle robbing slapper by the Jones and all the other old biddies judging and casting stones and the like!
